Project Active Social Leagues Wrap Up

As we end our final social league game of Term 3, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the achievements of Project Active's football Social Leagues throughout this academic year!

From wins and difficult matches to the camaraderie and sportsmanship displayed by all participants, the Social Leagues have highlighted teamwork and dedication amongst friends and fellow UCL colleagues.

We are proud to celebrate the successes, both on and off the field, and to recognise the efforts of everyone who has contributed to making this year a great experience!

What is Project Active Social Leagues?

Project Active runs a weekly 5-aside Football Social League for both UCL Staff and Students! Project Active Social Leagues offer a fantastic opportunity to get involved in light-hearted, casual weekly football. There is no training, just weekly games, and it’s perfect for beginners and players of all ability level.

Project Active's Social Leagues are perfect for anyone interested in playing casual, regular football, even if you don't know anyone. You can purchase individual tickets and then create teams with other participants, making it easy for you to meet new people and make friends while enjoying the game.

Highlights from this year

This year Project Active's Social League ran three leagues, one in each term. There was a whopping 150 social league participants across the year!

Term 3 was special as we had the opportunity to play on a brand new 3G pitch at Somers Town Community Sport Centre!

Students who participated in this term instantly recognised the change and loved it, with many praising the improved quality and experience of playing on the 3G pitch.

The new pitch has been met with enthusiasm and positive feedback from all involved.

Discover what some our participants had to say...

It’s something I look forward to every week. A great way to stay active, great mental health release and a great opportunity to be with the friends that I play with. It’s such a open environment and available for people from different sporting abilities

Sebastian - Third Year UCL Student

I think it's structured in a very good way - I enjoyed the camaraderie about it - I also enjoyed meeting people and talking to them - the extroverted element

Josh - Third Year UCL Student

Some of us haven’t played in years and we thought this would be a good idea to try and find our feet again

Football in the Summer

Project Active are also working in collaboration with the Student Union Institute Bar for a football event that ties in with the Euros: Play Football and Watch the Euros! For just £3.50 per session, you can play 5-a-side football and then enjoy the Euros at the Institute Bar.

The event offers several benefits, including a reserved table and queue jump at the Institute Bar during Euros games to avoid long waits. Additionally, the 5-a-side games will be themed around the matches you'll watch, adding an extra layer of excitement. Find out more and get your tickets by clicking here!
