Putting on a show in the Bloomsbury Theatre & Studio

The Students' Union has three categories of show that can be put on in the Bloomsbury Theatre & Studio:

Category A

Category A productions are week-long engagements in the Bloomsbury Theatre, with up to four days of rehearsal time, and up to three performances. The bidding process for Category A's occurs in March of the previous academic year.  

If you are interested in bidding for a Category A allocation in the Bloomsbury Theatre or just want to know more, please have a look at the Bloomsbury Theatre (Category A) Bidding Guidelines - please note that you must bid as part of a Union affiliated club/society.

If you decide to bid for a Category A allocation in the Bloomsbury Theatre for the academic year 2027/28, and have received the support from your chosen club/society, the President of that club/society must submit the Bloomsbury Theatre (Category A) Bid Application Form by the deadline detailed on the Bid Application Form.

Category B&C

Category B&C productions are shorter engagements in the Bloomsbury Theatre, with either one or two days of rehearsal time, and a single performance. Category B&C bids are considered on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.

If you decide to bid for a Category B/C allocation in the Bloomsbury Theatre for the academic year 2026/27, and have received the support from your chosen club/society, the President of that club/society must submit the Bloomsbury Theatre (Category B&C) Bid Application Form on behalf of your bid.

Studio

Studio productions are week-long engagements in the Bloomsbury Studio, with three days of rehearsal time, and three performances. Allocations for Term 1 are decided in Term 3 (May/June) of the previous academic year, and allocations for Term 2 are decided in Term 1 of the same academic year (October/November)

If you are interested in bidding for an allocation in the Bloomsbury Studio or just want to know more, please have a look at the Bloomsbury Studio Bidding Guidelines - please note that for the majority of slots, you must bid as part of a Union affiliated club/society.

In Term 2 of each year, we offer two open slots - performance weeks that students can bid for directly, without the endorsement of a society. This can be a pathway for anyone who would like to put something on without being attached to a society, or who was unsuccessful at the internal bid stage.

If you decide to bid for an allocation in the Bloomsbury Studio for the academic year 2026/27, the Bloomsbury Studio Bid Application Form must be submitted by the deadline detailed on the Bid Application Form.
