Capri Wu

Hi everyone, I’m Capri, and I’m standing for Treasurer of the Social Research Institute Society because I want to support the SRI’s growth by contributing my organisational strengths to manage its finance in an effective, structured but also transparent way. As the current Events Officer on the SRI Sub-Committee, I’ve already been closely involved in the processes behind and during events, panels and socials – where I would love to take greater initiative to ensure future successes.

Through leading Community Service and Sports teams, I’ve become comfortable to take on responsibilities, even the less glamorous tasks like tracking expenses in spreadsheets, processing digital payments and completing funding applications on tight deadlines. In the past, I’ve managed the finances for an overnight camp hosting over 80 students, which involved budgeting for venue, material, and staffing, as well as monitoring income from sign-ups, sponsors and additional donations.

In this role, I hope to bring together my functional strengths in time-management, communication and attention to detail with my passion for designing engaging events that strengthen the SRI community by enabling ideas whilst utilising available resources. Finally, I believe that it is not only the execution but rather such accumulated duties that fundamentally form the backbone to a successful event. Thank you so much, and I’d love the opportunity to support the committee and the SRI next year!
