Henrike de Ridder

Hi! I’m Henrike, and I would love to be your next RUMS Music President Treasurer!

Being part of Heartstrings this year has genuinely been one of the highlights of my time at UCL. Tuesday rehearsals quickly became something I looked forward to every week, and through Heartstrings and other RUMS Music socials I’ve found such a welcoming, supportive, and joyful community. Coming to university, I was worried I might lose music alongside the demands of medicine, so being able to continue playing has meant a lot to me. And I would love to help ensure that opportunity continues for others.

Music has always been a constant in my life. I’ve played in orchestras since I was seven and sung in choirs since I was six. In my youth orchestra, I was Lower Strings Manager and a section leader, where I helped organise rehearsals, support my section, and act as a link between players and leadership. I love a spreadsheet and don’t back down from an administrative challenge, but I also really care about creating an environment where people feel welcome, encouraged, and excited to be there.

I bring enthusiasm and an eagerness to contribute long-term and help RUMS Music to grow. Most importantly, I care deeply about this society and the role it plays in people’s lives. I would be honoured to support its ensembles, strengthen its community, and help make sure RUMS Music remains a place where everyone can find joy in making music together.
