Joshua Kim

When I was first exposed to the jazz society, I immediately wanted to be a part of it. This is why I applied to the house band; I wasn't confident in my jazz playing abilities. However, I was very surprised when I got a place and that gave me the confidence I needed to explore my playing, improve and enjoy jazz a lot more with my peers.

I would love to give that feeling of confidence to other people who are hesitant or scared to play confidently in front of an audience, and also give them many opportunities to improve alongside experienced musicians. With this in mind, I have integrated into jazz society well which will allow me to match players into the gig band / house band according to their skill level and chemistry, such that newer players will have exposure to experienced musicians and everyone can have fun playing with people they enjoy playing with.

I would also love to manage the IOE jam as I enjoy that environment a lot; turning up to jams is a pleasure for me so it would be an honour to help manage.

I've made my mind, the small bands role is mine 🫡
Next year shall be a busy hectic time
But working from afar will suit me well 🧑‍🍳
And honestly I think that I'd excel
So watch me run and claim this role with flair 😤🔥
The small bands arc begins — I'll see you there

(Harriet told me to include this..)
