Emily Burke

With over three years' experience in managing financial ventures for a Girlguiding unit, I am standing for Treasurer because I am a highly organised, financially responsible individual, motivated to contribute meaningfully to the Geographical Society. Through my experiences, I have developed strong financial skills by budgeting for large-scale events and handling transactions. In 2024, I fundraised £3200 for the charity, managing income and expenses that required close attention to detail and accountability, skills I believe make me well-suited for this role in managing society's budgets effectively.

At UCL, in my roles as First Year Department of Geography Academic Representative and Geographical Society First Year Representative, I have demonstrated persuasive communication skills by advocating for students and serving as a liaison among them, the department, and the society during meetings. Therefore, I feel confident in my abilities to liaise with a range of stakeholders, including the Student Union, the President, and other Committee members, to manage budgets transparently and professionally.

Overall, I would ensure that society's funds are managed carefully and clearly communicated to all committee members to maximise opportunities for society members. I am eager to bring my financial experience, organisational skills, and enthusiasm for Geography to the table to support the society's continued success.
