Hii guys! 🤭 I’m Caryn, a second-year Applied Medical Sciences student with a strong passion in genetics but also in creating helpful and engaging academic communities. If I were nominated for Vice President, I would work closely with the committee to support the smooth running of GenSoc and help ensure that events and initiatives continue to be meaningful, well-organised, and valuable for members.
I consider myself a very organised, responsible, and proactive person, and I enjoy working collaboratively to turn ideas into successful events and initiatives. With my people skills and experience in other societies, I aim to foster a positive and supportive environment within the society for both the committee and the members. I’m particularly excited and passionate about GenSoc’s diverse activities such as research talks, journal clubs, career panels or social events, and it would be amazing to help plan and coordinate the events to ensure they run efficiently and reach as many members as possible. I’m passionate about creating opportunities for students to explore genetics beyond the classroom, connect with others who share similar interests, and learn about the many different paths within the field.
As Vice President, I hope to grow GenSoc into an engaging society for everyone interested in genetics.
Vote for me! 🧬🩷
UCL Genetics Society is one of the most exciting and welcoming communities at UCL. What I enjoy most is how it brings together students from many backgrounds who are curious about genetics, whether through research, industry, or emerging technologies. Through talks, workshops and lab visits, the society creates opportunities for students to explore the field beyond the classroom.
I particularly enjoy helping organise events that are engaging, thought-provoking and accessible to a wide range of students. Genetics is such a broad field, and I believe the society should continue creating opportunities that allow members to explore different ideas, meet new people and discover new interests.
I previously served as Vice President and Head of Sales in another society, where I supported the President, coordinated committee tasks and helped generate funding. This role required strong organisation, teamwork and leadership, and taught me how important it is to ensure events and projects run smoothly.
As Vice President, I would focus on supporting the President and committee, helping coordinate events and initiatives, and ensuring ideas are delivered effectively. I am organised, proactive and reliable, and I would work to help maintain the welcoming, collaborative atmosphere that makes UCL Genetics Society so special.
