Hello! I'm Fatima and I am a 2nd year NatSci Student. Some of you may know me as the Minecraft Admin!

This year I've made some amazing friends through the society, and that's a big part of why I want to run for events! I want to build on the social side of UCLG by running events where people can meet others, have fun + feel comfortable joining in - whether they're new or have been around for a while.

As Events Officer, I will run bigger and better LANs, organise more regular offline socials and set up collaborations with other societies and also with other universities! I also want to make sure that our events cater to everyone in the community, whether casual or competitive.
I’d love to run fun socials like lounge parties, mini-golf (and my personal preference, a comic store day)

I'm also quite a proactive person - if people have ideas for events, I'm down to make things happen to give us all plenty to look forward to. I’ll make sure events are planned well and run smoothly, whilst also bringing the excitement!
That’s all :)

Julia Duong

Hi!! I'm Julia and I'm a first year running for Events Officer.

When I first arrived at UCL, I often felt lonely despite joining many societies since everyone’s schedules are so different. That’s why I’m so passionate about building a tight-knit community to help people form deeper friendships within UCLG. I want the society to have high-energy, fun socials but also calmer hangouts where people can simply be around others without having to socialise intensely. This matters especially during exam season, so that there will always be the option of having company without compromising grades.

I take initiative with planning, so I am used to handling logistics and booking venues. I’ve organised unofficial inter-uni events for the members of the Minecraft SMP server, including mini-golf and hotpot, and I’m active in the SMP community every day. Getting to know people comes naturally to me, allowing me to learn what types of socials would make different members feel included. As Events Officer, I’d bring that same personal approach to the whole society, designing a varied range of events for different personalities and gamer types- competitive and casual alike.

Next year, I hope to introduce:

Friend-Matching for Freshers’ Week- mixing freshers and non-freshers based on interests to make it less intimidating to join the community and offline socials

Low-pressure socials- especially in exam season

Weekly events- lively and laid-back, casual and competitive

Thank you for your consideration <3
