Barbara Ye

I am running for EFS President because after attending so many of the society’s events this year, I’ve seen both the incredible value EFS already provides and the opportunities we have to grow further. Engaging closely with our talks, panels and networking sessions has shown me what truly resonates with members, and it has motivated me to take a more active role in shaping the society’s direction. My background in organising large-scale events, leading diverse teams and managing complex operations has prepared me to strengthen EFS’s structure and consistently deliver high-quality experiences. From coordinating 1,000-person events to leading 150+ volunteers in multi-project initiatives, I’ve developed the logistical discipline, communication skills and leadership mindset needed to run a society of this scale. Combined with my finance experience and academic grounding in economics, I understand the industry pathways our members aspire to and the types of opportunities that can genuinely support them. As President, I aim to expand our professional programming, enhance collaboration with firms and alumni, and create a more inclusive, engaged and academically supportive community. My goal is to ensure EFS becomes not just an events society, but a platform that meaningfully elevates every member’s growth, confidence and career trajectory.

Yiqing Zhang

Hi, my name is Yiqing. You might remember me as the person who interviewed the CEO of Itsu or from one of the many events I helped host as an Executive in the Finance Division.
Having seen the society's behind-the-scenes operations, from humbling catering runs to reaching out to and interviewing CEOs, my experience has taught me what it truly takes to run UCL’s largest society. And now, I’m ready to take my responsibilities to the next level.

My vision is one of connection: within EFS, across UCL societies, and between alumni and sponsors.

•    Formalised alumni-relations department: Entire panels of UCL graduates from all corners of finance and beyond, everyone from IB, Markets, Consulting, Quant, and more, there to answer job-specific, firm-specific, and you-specific questions.

•    Expand sponsor events: I want you to have direct networking experiences through our sponsors in a new flagship EFS event: exclusive luncheons, where attendees have the opportunity to rotate between firm representatives.

•    Inter-society collaboration: Work with other UCL societies to offer a more lucrative package, bringing in the best speakers to host events on a scale we’ve never done before!

Leveraging the collective experience of the future team, across all divisions within EFS, we will truly transform the society.

If you believe in our ability to make that a reality, vote Yiqing Zhang as your next EFS president!
