Alessandra Jia Pan

Hi UCL Diplomacy Society Members! ^^

I’m Alessandra Jia Pan, your current Treasurer and former Head of Events, and I’m running to be your next President.

Over the past two years, it’s been a privilege to help build this society with you.

You may know my work from our core events: the Inter-Uni Diplomacy Ball 2026 (UCL liaison across unis + ticketing), the London University Diplomatic Summit (submissions, budgeting, ticketing and logistics), and the Victor Gao vs Luke Pulford Debate 2025 (timings, logistics, and problem-solving).

I’m also very familiar with the unglamorous, complicated bits that keep us credible: SU paperwork, submission approvals, funding/budgets, and the rules you have to get right for events to happen.

Next year, with me as President, UCL Diplomacy Society could further flourish in four different ways:

  1. Clearer direct communication (regular circulation of feedback forms, for members to freely evaluate past events & suggest topics they want to see tackled in future events);
  2. A stronger and more connected community (introducing a Family Scheme for mentoring and creating friendships);
  3. broader programming and attention (tackling geopolitics/IR, and more marginalised social issues and lenses like feminism and critical theory);
  4. More career-focused opportunities (EU/IO pathways like the EEAS, and consulting/policy-adjacent routes like Deloitte, with panels, workshops and “how I got in” chats).

If that’s the society you want next year, I’d be honoured to have your vote.
