Marynet Perez

Hi! I’m Marynet (Maggie), your current welfare officer for the latter half of this academic year. I’m an almost-3rd Year Psychology student and I’ve helped write, edit and design for Delilah for some time now.

I haven’t been as active with life being crazy, but for the short time I’ve been appointed I’ve come to understand what welfare officers can really do for a magazine. It’s WAY more than those training modules, and it draws from observing myself, committee, and the entire Delilah team (you!). It’s making sure print deadlines are accommodated when life gets a little loud. It’s helping people remain inspired by their work rather than stressed, because creating amazing articles is what this magazine does best. Maybe it even involves searching every store for vegan hot chocolate, or simply housing socials in accessible places (so long as the Union isn’t double booking us). At its core, it’s maintaining a space for good communication, and I’d say I’m a good balance of being a small ball of chaos who loves a laugh but also a chat if you need it. It’s surprising, considering I’m not the most social in general, but being in creative spaces brings it out of me, and I’d love to be re-elected for the full year to continue helping people, particularly newcomers, feel included and inspired in our little creative corner of UCL.
