Knitting Society: Events Officer

I've been knitting and crocheting for most of my life, and this society has been a great way to connect with others who share that interest. I know how important it is to have a space where people can learn, improve, and feel part of a community. As Events Manager, I’d focus on making our sessions more engaging by introducing new techniques, organising fun activities, and helping members get to know each other. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, I want to make the society a place where everyone feels welcome and inspired.

I am standing to be Knit Soc's events officer, as I hope to plan sessions that get members excited and more actively involved in Knit Soc's events. Although I believe there is already a good variety amongst the existing events, I think more can be done to encourage bonding within the society. 

Knit Soc is a comfortable space for members to pick up new skills, unwind or meet up with friends. However, new members may struggle to mingle or interact with others in the current setting. I believe integrating activities that give these members the platform to meet new people and bond over their interests into typical sessions will be beneficial to the society. 

During the weekly Sip and Stitch sessions, I hope to plan activities that allow for greater interaction amongst interested members, and allow all of us to get to know each other better. Through these bonding activities, I hope to help members create a sense of community within the society, encouraging increased participation in events and greater connections between members.

I hope to contribute meaningfully not only by planning fun and engaging events, but also by working together with fellow committee members to make Knit Soc a safe, comfortable and enjoyable place for all.
