Leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about understanding people, knowing what drives them, and creating a space where they feel valued. I’m running for president because a society thrives when its members feel seen, heard, and empowered. The right leadership isn’t just about making decisions, it’s about making people want to be part of something bigger. If you get it, you get it.

Jonathan Hagiarian

Over the past two years, antisemitism has permeated our classrooms and student spaces. Intimidation, harassment, and exclusion have become frequent as Jewish students felt increasingly isolated. Countering antisemitism will remain a priority under my leadership. There is often a sense of shame and guilt when one is a victim of bullying or even an isolated case of antisemitism. Under my leadership, in addition to the current resources, an anonymous online reporting form will be created to enable students confronted to any sort of antisemitism to report these incidents anonymously.

Under my leadership, the Jewish Society will be a forum for thought-provoking reflection and constructive dialogue, with the aim of inviting a wide range of L&L guests. The Jsoc will remain committed to Israel's right to defend itself and will stand in solidarity with the people of Israel, its prosperity, democratic and human rights. It will be beacon of joy, hope, and intellectual wealth.

Lastly, as President of the JSoc, I will continue and step up the iconic social events, from the L&L to Tel Aviv Takes London. I will also strive to organise a Pessah JewCL trip to Israel, for any Jewish student to be able to experience a priceless and memorable journey—Pessah in Israel.

Faced with momentous threats, we choose hope; we can choose to stand joyful and united, unbending and uncompromising. I want to create a proud Jewish Society where we can all share this gift that was given to us: our identity.

Maya Dahan

As Welfare Officer the past year, I’ve been deeply involved in JSOC, supporting members affected by recent events and liaising with our antisemitism officer. Beyond this, my interest and care for this community saw me: organize lunch and learns, introduce Kosher food on campus, arrange JSOC’s Jewish Care visit, put up the Menorah and more.

Working on these initiatives and engaging with our members to enrich Jewish campus life has been my most meaningful uni experience. I’ve also loved representing JSOC to the Student Union, working with them to implement feedback and champion JSOC’s needs. Being President would allow me to maximise my impact-building on the foundations I’ve laid to keep giving back to this incredible community. Because this community has made campus feel like home the past two years, and I am enormously grateful for it.

I take the role of President extremely seriously and believe I have the experience, network and drive to excel. Especially at a time when being JSOC President has taken a new meaning in the current environment, where strong leadership, identity and attention to welfare are more crucial than ever. With strong connections in the SU, I can hit the ground running, working directly with them to support JSOC. As President, I hope to: organize more inter-JSOC and off-campus events, amplify UCL’s Jewish voice, and create more career and volunteering opportunities.  With your support, I look forward to seeing JSOC go from strength to strength. Thank you!
