Jazz soc socials keep getting better and I hope to follow on with this trend. If i was social sec I would love to continue the curry nights and termly pub crawls to ronnie scotts (but actually end up in ronnie scotts lol), as well as do new non-drinking socials to involve a larger group of people! Some other ideas I have is having group jazz listening sessions as well as more trips to different jazz bars and blues kitchen trips. Since fiesta was such a hit, I think joining with other societies would be fun, especially to provide music for dance as well as potential music related quiz with quiz soc whilst also helping to organise Musicality for a second year! I hope you guys will consider me as I would love to to be your Jazz Society Social Sec this year!

Abbie Wong

Hi! I’m Abbie, and you probably know me for playing alto sax in the big band or Phineas.

During my time in Jazz Society, I have felt a strong sense of community and have been fortunate enough to make many great friends and memories. If I’m elected as Social Secretary, I will ensure as many people as possible feel part of the Jazz Society community and can get the most out of the society as I have, whether they attend every weekly event or come to enjoy the music every so often.

I enjoy arranging exciting hangouts with my friends, such as comedy show trips and festive lunches. The organisational and communication skills I used to plan these events also helped me as the assistant producer for the recent Fiesta show with Salsa Society. My ideas for Jazz Society socials include relaxed games nights, trips to external jams and gigs, intersociety music quizzes and dinners with other UCL music or art societies, and mixers with other universities. I’m also all ears for any ideas you might have, and will happily fulfill them where possible.

So if you want someone friendly, organised, and open to feedback representing your best interests regarding socials, please vote for me as Social Secretary! :)
