I am Applying for the Jain Society Charity Lead role as it allows me to make a meaningful impact by organizing activities that align with the values of the religion (such as compassion and selflessness).

It’s an opportunity to lead charitable projects, engage with the community, and contribute to causes like education, healthcare, and and those in need. This role also fosters leadership skills (between Jain society and the community), teamwork, and a deeper connection to the principles of ahimsa (non-violence) and seva (service) which I hope makes a positive impact in both the society and the lives of those in need.

Sim Shah

I am deeply passionate about community service and Jain values, which is why I’m eager to take on the role of Charity Lead for Jain Society! With a solid background in volunteering, including attending food Seva, I've gained essential skills and an understanding of the importance of selfless service. These align closely with my core Jain tenets—compassion, non-violence, and giving.

My long-term volunteering experience at a hospital means I've developed strong communication and teamwork skills, crucial for coordinating charity initiatives. I have learned to collaborate with diverse groups, navigate challenges and cultivate a deep sense of empathy, allowing me to address others' needs with sincerity. Additionally, my experience as a negotiator in high-pressure situations during the Robotics World Championships means I can handle challenging scenarios effectively.

As Charity Lead, I would focus on expanding Jain Society's efforts by fostering inter-societal collaborations, such as with Hindu and Sikh Societies. I aim to introduce innovative initiatives that address both local and environmental needs, from clothing drives to rubbish clean-ups and tree planting. I also plan to implement the "Annual Seva Awards" to celebrate the kindness of contributors and maintain high morale.

Overall, I believe my passion and skills make me well-suited to manage the charity sector and spread joy, satisfaction, and delight. I look forward to giving back as Charity Lead this year. Thank you!
