Ambrine El Kihel

I am standing for the position of Welfare Officer since I believe my experience and skills make me well-suited to support and promote the well-being of French and Francophone students at our university.

As a former Communication and Partnership Organizer for the Red Cross Society, I worked closely with students to foster partnerships with other societies that promote mental and physical well-being. Beyond my university, I was an active member of the national French Red Cross , where I received extensive training to respond to various welfare-related scenarios. These responsibilities equipped me with the ability to navigate complex situations, including those involving psychological and emotional challenges, while maintaining a calm, caring, and effective approach.

Through this nomination, I aim at creating stronger connections within the French Society in order to reinforce ties among French and Francophone students, ensuring the society feels inclusive.

Melchior Rathle

Dear members, dear friends,

I hereby apply for the position of Welfare Officer at the UCL Francophone Society.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned through my experiences, it’s the importance of mental health and wellbeing.

Growing up in a single-mother household has never been easy for anyone, but it taught me resilience and the value of supporting others. Through the situations I’ve faced in my life, I’ve always prioritised mental and physical wellbeing — not just for myself but for those around me. My volunteer activities such as street outreach works for the homeless with the 'Scouts Unitaires de France' in partnership with the French Red Cross, as well as my active efforts to combat social isolation during high school, have prepared me to take on this role with compassion and commitment.

Within La Franco, I’ve already had the chance to contribute in various ways: as an advanced French teacher (2023–2024), an active member of the football team, and even as the 'un'official photographer.  These roles have not only deepened my connection to the society but also highlighted how much I enjoy contributing to its growth and supporting its members.

La Franco is known as one of the largest language and cultural organisations at UCL.  I believe, based on my background, that I not only have the shoulders to carry such responsibilities, but also the ability, as a kind-hearted, approachable and trustworthy ear, to support and listen to each individual of our community.

With love,

Melchior ;)
