UCL Cricket Club have been crowned the Bright Network ‘Wellbeing and Sports Society of the Year’. The award is presented to a club or society that has gone above and beyond to raise awareness for well-being and/or increase participation in physical activity.

UCL Cricket Club have taken great strides in developing their club’s accessibility and increasing opportunities for women.

  • The club have openly addressed the lack of cricket opportunities women previously experienced at UCL.
  • All committee members have been trained on systemic sexism and root causes of sexist bias.
  • They have educated members and increased awareness of the barriers women face in cricket.
  • The club now offers opportunities for women through women’s only training sessions, fixtures, events and social spaces.
  • Free beginner sessions are available to all new members.
  • New leadership roles have been created and the number of women on their committee has increased.

The club have epitomised the criteria of this award by creating an inclusive environment that increases sporting opportunities for all. Great work UCL Cricket Club!
