Devi, your Women's Officer, speaks to us about the activity she has organised for the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-based Violence campaign.
From 25 November to 10 December, the UN marks the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-based Violence. This year, the campaign is focused on digital abuse, with the theme "UNiTE to End Digital Violence".
As your Women’s Officer, I’m dedicated to campaigning for gender equality and building a community for all women on campus. I’m currently working on projects like improving campus lighting and providing free menstrual products at UCL. (PS: This Friday, I’m hosting an event where you can hear more about our work, and give your ideas for change).

Help make campuses safer by taking part in a survey
No student should ever feel unsafe or experience harm while at university. Unfortunately, gender-based violence remains a significant issue within UK higher education, with particular groups at increased risk.
This is why we’re launching a survey, with other Students’ Unions across the Russell Group to gather students' experiences and perceptions of safety related to gender-based violence across Russell Group universities. Find out more about the survey here.
How you can get involved
This December, we’ve planned a catalogue of events for you to get involved with the campaign. On Tuesday 2 December, we’re hosting an art expression activity themed around the UNiTE signature colour, Orange the World. On Tuesday 9 December, Cosima Wiltshire, a student researcher at UCL’s Digital Speech lab will be conducting a workshop and discussion on digital abuse. To round off the campaign, join us at our “Right to Move” Night Walk on Wednesday 10 December- a 5km walk beginning at 6pm in Trafalgar Square which will contribute to a student-led Safety report. Join the Women’s Network in our efforts to create a safer world for all women.
