Postgrads! Summer itinerary looking a little bare? Looking for activities to fill the time between library sessions?

We know you Postgrads will be doing some intensive work over the summer period, so it's more important than ever for you to take breaks and make the most out of living in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Have a go at some of these exciting things to do around London (that won't break the bank).

Don't forget, we have a wide range of low cost, low commitment events and activities you can take part in as part of our Postgraduate Summer programme.

1. The Garden at 120

Who needs Sky Garden when you've got this equally beautiful alternative? Take in the glorious views of the London cityscape at The Garden at 120. Ride the lift up to floor 15 and you'll be transported to a wisteria-filled wonderland with planted flower beds, climbers and a water feature - plenty of good photo spots for you and your mates! The best part? It's free and there's no need to book in advance, just show up on the day!

2. Daunt Books Marylebone

Relieve your eyes from reading for academic purposes and visit one of London's most beautiful book shops. Daunt Books boasts a large collection of fiction and non-fiction books, with sections organised by country, perfect for those seeking to travel through the medium of books this summer (we did say budget-friendly). Any avid book lovers will certainly be in heaven. Even if you're not a reader, this is worth a visit just to have a wander around and admire the Edwardian architecture and oak balconies. Leave with some books and maybe even a Daunt Books tote bag to accompany you on your adventures around the city this summer!

3. Fairgame

Grab your friends and challenge them to the ultimate competition at Fairgame! For £15 per person if you book midweek, you and your group will be able to play each of the 9 games, with a leader board accessible by scanning your wristband. You could even win a teddy if you score high enough! There's also a delectable food court and many drinks and sweet treats to be enjoyed! Pair it with a nice walk around Canary Wharf and you've got yourself a summer day out to remember.

4. Frank's Cafe

We know English weather is unpredictable, and clear skies are often hard to come by, so when a warm summer night comes along why not spend it on a rooftop bar? Frank's Cafe is open until late September, so plenty of time to plan your visit! Relax and enjoy those beautiful sunset views over a cocktail with your friends.

5. Parkside Farm

Who doesn't love strawberries in the summertime? Better yet - why not pick them yourself? Parkside Farm is the perfect place to have a go - spend a couple of hours in nature picking your own delicious strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants or plums and leave with a succulent selection. They are sure to taste sweeter due to the fruits of your labour (bad pun intended).

6. Kew Midsummer Fete

Want a traditional Victorian-style fun fair with rides, food stalls and even a dog show? If so, Kew Midsummer Fete is not one to miss out on! Whether your playing tug of war or watching a live band, you'll find there's lots on offer for you to enjoy. If that wasn't enticing enough, entry is free and any money you do spend will be going towards raising money for local charities.

7. Rooftop Film Club

Attention film buffs! Make this summer the one where you watch a film outdoors. The Rooftop Film Club will give you all you need for the best open-air cinema experience, with stunning city views, food and drink, deckchairs and even your own personal headphones to really tune into the movie. Whether you choose to watch a classic or a more recent release, you'll have a great time sitting amongst the stars.

8. Deen City Farm

Ever fed a pig before? Well, there's a first time for everything, and Deen City Farm could be the place for it! With 150 animals to see, such as alpacas, goats and rams, this is definitely a refreshing break from the bustling city. This would be a great day out for all animal lovers, so be sure to get it in the calendar this summer.

9. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

Fancy yourself some theatre minus the hefty price tag? Tickets for Shakespeare's Globe theatre are just £5-10 if you choose to stand in the pit! Watch Richard III, Much Ado About Nothing, Antony & Cleopatra and many others, without having to drain your funds. Experience this iconic and unique venue this summer and we're sure you won't regret it!

10. Vauxhall Park

If you’re looking for a nice green space to enjoy, why not take a leisurely stroll through Vauxhall Park? Bring your friends along to play table tennis or basketball, have a wander through the orchard or the lovely lavender field (make sure you take your hay fever meds!!), or relax and have a drink at Parco Cafe.

We hope this has given you some inspiration on how to fill your calendar this summer! We know you'll be working hard and we hope that these fun activities will act as a little de-stressor for you :)
