Why did you take part in The UCL Campus Run 2024?
"I have been running for a while but had never entered any sort of running race event before. This seemed like a great first opportunity to do so."
Did you run The UCL Campus Run 2024 alone or with other staff?
"I entered as a team of 6 with other university and SU staff members – whilst we all finished at different times, it was lovely to be able to meet and chat before the race and then celebrate all together afterwards!"
What did you enjoy about The UCL Campus Run 2024?
"It felt like a really premium event but at such a low cost! The atmosphere was also amazing with so many runners taking part. And it really felt you were welcome there… if you were walking, running or supporting."
Did you feel connect to the UCL community from The UCL Campus Run 2024?
"Absolutely – there is no better feeling than running by someone you know cheering you on, or seeing someone halfway through the race that you recognise and say hello to!"
Sara's (UCL East Engagement Coordinator) Story
Why did you take part in The UCL Campus Run 2024?
"I just wanted to do something that felt good. I’d been meaning to get moving a bit more, and this felt like the perfect nudge – something casual, not too intense, and easy to just turn up for. I also liked the idea of doing something active that wasn’t tied to a gym or a routine – just a run, on campus, with other people around."
Did you run The UCL Campus Run 2024 alone or with other staff?
"I ran on my own, but it doesn’t feel like you are alone at all. There was this really friendly atmosphere – people smiling, chatting, cheering each other on. Even though I wasn’t running with anyone, it still felt like we were all in it together. It was really lovely!"

What did you enjoy about The UCL Campus Run 2024?
"I most enjoyed how relaxed the entire day was. No pressure, no competition – just people showing up and doing something a bit different. It was also really nice to do this on campus grounds – I didn’t realize how accessible the Olympic Park really is for running /sports in general!"
Did you feel connect to the UCL community from The UCL Campus Run 2024?
"Yeah, I did. I think when you work somewhere, especially a big place like UCL, it’s easy to get caught up in your own little corner. But doing something like this reminds you that there’s a whole community here – students, staff, people you’ve never met before – and you’re all sharing a space and a moment. That felt really good."
