I was introduced to taekwondo by joining last year’s taster session with a guy, and it was love at first sight (not him). The committee drew me in with their camaraderie and energy during the phase where I didn’t yet know what I was doing, and later on, I grew dependent on the movement artistry and adrenaline highs. Better yet, I finally gained a sense of belonging thanks to the team. This is the feeling I would draw upon if given the opportunity to fill the big shoes of this year’s committee.

As female captain, I’d aim to boost morale during training sessions, competitions, socials, you name it. I think good vibes directly translate to improved performance. Plus, with a co-captain like Deniz, we could cover most areas of taekwondo technique-wise. I’ve trained in ITF, WT and Freestyle, competed in all of them, and with two golds in the latter I believe I can offer guidance. At Nationals I had the opportunity to centre judge A class fights, so you know I’m familiar with sparring rules and am not afraid to speak up either, both useful in training. My knowledge primarily lies in movement coordination required in ballet (8 years of experience), which is not to be underestimated :) Ballet demands similar athletic skills as taekwondo, such as flexibility, endurance, balance, etc. Hence I feel confident that I could lead warm-ups, cool-downs, and strength training with relative ease.

I would be honoured to be your next captain, and am grateful for all your support. Thank you!
