Virgile Darmon

Hi everyone,

My name is Virgile Darmon, I am a student in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. At this point, some of you know me as the “man in armour”.

I have been a member of Medieval Society for now four years, and I have been part of the committee for three, successively taking the roles of Welfare Officer, Treasurer, and President.

I have always been passionate about the medieval times and especially in the aspect of the material culture especially in the field of war engineering: How did people dress up for war? What were the materials used? I also do armours and simple metal smithing during the summer with very limited tools and budget as a hobby.

There are many questions and topics I could spend hours waffling about but there must be something to everyone with their own personal interests which is why I have a few objectives for if I am to get elected:

Collaborating with different societies both inside and outside UCL
More academic events about more varied topics
Widening the focus to other areas than Europe
Run workshop events
To this day, I keep having fun organising events that people will enjoy, and I wish I could continue this journey with you all next year!

Lily Woodman

I have loved being a part of Medieval Society this year, and I would love to be a part of the Committee next year.

I love medieval history and have an especial interest in the experiences of women during the Middle Ages. One of my favourite topics is medieval queenship with Matilda of Flanders and Elizabeth Woodville being my top medieval queens.

Thanks for considering me!
