Election post

Elected
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I have been a member of the Mature Society since the start of this academic year. I’m 32, and have been involved with clubs, societies and charities since secondary school. I’m quite a regular and committed member, outgoing, happy to talk to people.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I hope to support the work of the Officer to the best of my abilities. This is an exciting time as the society is replaced by a more inclusive Network with a new role. There’s an opportunity to help this new student body become as far-reaching and efficient as possible and help it grow in the years to come. I also hope to assist with building a working relationship with the university, that I’m sure will benefit both students and the UCL’s admin and support staff.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am here to offer help whenever possible and make everyone feel welcome in this new network; I believe it could make a real difference to many students. We know that mature and part-time students, as well as carers, tend to have extra responsibilities and limited free time in their daily lives compared to a typical student aged 18 to 21. I hope this new Network will help members socialise during their time at university, and whenever appropriate, direct them to the numerous services available to them, including uni advisors and specialists.
