Sophia Kim

Hello LSS members! My name is Sophia, a first-year Neuroscience student and I'm standing to be elected as your Outreach Officer for the 24/25 academic year. As your prospective Outreach Officer, I hope to contribute to the growth of LSS by fostering unique and inclusive initiative to increase engagement in our community. 

As someone who has been attending and enjoying the events hosted by LSS since I started at UCL, one of the improvements I'd like to make as Outreach Officer is the variation of event formats. In addition to arranging panel discussions or talks from academics/researchers, I aim to explore interactive event formats that promote community engagement such as public academic events, fundraisers or collaborations with non-profit organisations to increase participation within LSS, as well as its reach and impact outside of the society. 

Secondly, I'd like to create a more democratic environment in relation to project planning where the members of the society have a voice in leading the direction of our events. I understand that the ultimate goal of our initiative is to serve your interests and aspirations. Therefore, as Outreach Officer, I will ensure that YOUR input is heard and welcomed in hosting events that resonate with you!
