I’m standing to foster a vibrant and inclusive community within the Society, in which everyone feels valued and heard. I believe that film is a powerful medium, capable of shaping narratives and perceptions, and I want to ensure that the films being screened and made reflect diverse experiences and perspectives. I aim to create a welcoming space where everyone can come together to celebrate the art of cinema without fear of being judged, discriminated or excluded. I am dedicated to addressing any issues head-on, which means implementing inclusive practices in all aspects of the Film Society’s operations. This will include event planning and member engagement, to foster a culture of respect, empathy, and mutual support. My goal is to aid in establishing the film society as a diversity champion and to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable Society.

Shria Jindal

Hi, I’m Shria, and I’m excited to run for the position of Welfare and Inclusivity Officer for our society. This past year, working on GendFilm has been an absolute dream come true!! It has showed me the incredible power of inclusivity and the joy of celebrating our unique identities. I’m eager to bring that same spirit to all the projects, events, and productions our society undertakes next year. As your Welfare Officer, my main goal will be to ensure that every member feels heard, valued, and welcomed. I plan to curate engaging events, create more inclusive opportunities, continue important initiatives such as GendFilm, and expand our reach to include even more members. Through regular welfare meet-ups, open communication channels, and a comprehensive welfare policy developed with other committee members, I aim to foster an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute and grow. My commitment is to make your experience in our society not just stress-free and enjoyable, but also enriching and informative.

Diana Shabani

Providing welfare and inclusivity in UCL Film and Tv Society is something which is extremely important to me. I hope to use my experience to become a point of contact for everyone involved in Film Society regarding anything which is worrying them. From freshers events to production sets I hope to create a safe and nurturing environment for everyone! Need someone to give you advice, I'm here! Need someone to walk you home after a social, I'm your girl! Uni getting overwhelming and you're looking for someone to talk to? Just drop me a message and we will go for coffee!

Rachel Weller

Hi, I’m Rachel!

I am keen to make sure that all members of UCL’s Film and TV society feel welcome and included. I want to make filmsoc a warm and friendly environment - where members can build blossoming and lasting friendships, connecting over creative passions for film and TV.

As your welfare officer, I will listen to everyone’s thoughts, worries and opinions. I will provide an anonymous form that any member of film society can fill out, suggesting how we can make UCL’s film society an even friendlier and more inclusive space. This will provide exactly the services you need - both in the short and the long-term. Film society should bring joy into everyone’s lives and meet every single persons welfare needs.

I would further encourage a warm and friendly environment through being a kind and positive face that you are able to come to with any concerns/questions about the society, or life more generally. I will also make sure you know how to contact me at all times. I will be present at socials/events as a point of contact if you need to talk about your welfare, or generally want a friendly chat (my speciality)!

Film society should provide a positive space that brings much joy to people’s lives. I would love to play a role in maintaining this, working to ensure that all of your welfare needs are met, both in the short and the long-term.

I really hope you vote for me as I believe I would make a great (and friendly) welfare officer!

Bye :)
