Hi! I'm Diane and I’d love to be your Rec & Varsity Captain!

Some of you might not know me as I am in my year abroad so here’s a little about me: I joined the club in 2021, I have been in Spark and Strike and was Merch & Sponsorship Sec (21-22) before becoming Treasurer (22-23).  I also co-coached the 2023 Varsity Rugby and American Football performances.

I am running for Rec Captain to ensure smooth sessions, help everyone improve their skills throughout the year and improve accessibility to cheer for members joining post-tryouts; I also wish to make Rec more social and to plan the best Varsity performance yet!

Currently holding a L2 coaching qualification, having been to many rec sessions throughout my time at UCL and having co-coached 2023 Varsity, I believe I have the experience to be a great Rec Captain! Here are some of my goals:

• Help plan stunt groups ahead of time according to the skills members intend to train. If a role is missing (eg base), then I would look to see if someone could step in.
• Start planning varsity earlier to avoid training being rushed. Ideally, I’d like to have some music as well! 
• Organise a few “Skills” rec training sessions with a focus on certain stunts for people to improve, whilst keeping a side of the room open for “open gym”. I believe this will also help improve attendance, ie the ultimate goal!
• Organise socials (eg meals) after Rec/Varsity training for people to talk and potentially form stunt groups as well!
