As a gay Filipino man, I have often found myself as the sole representative of my identity in most academic and social circles. This experience has driven me to seek inclusion and representation for all LGBTQ+ individuals within the Asian Social Network. I am committed to making ASN an inclusive space where everyone feels seen and heard, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Recognising the cultural nuances within potentially conservative Asian backgrounds is crucial, particularly when it comes to the LGBTQ+ identities. I understand the challenges we face in reconciling our identities through personal experience. I aim to provide support to those in ASN who have difficulties reconciling their their LGBTQ+ identities with that of their Asian heritage, much in the same way that I did growing up.

If elected, I endeavour to organise events centered around LGBTQ+ affairs such as social gatherings and workshops with the potential to invite prominent LGBTQ+ Asian figures for talks. I am committed to creating opportunities for meaningful connections, discussions and career opportunities. These events will not only celebrate our diversity but also address the unique challenges at the intersection of Asian and LGBTQ+ identities.
