Candidates

Adam Cleary (He/Him)
Adam clearly is the best pick!
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Aside from being present at activities zone and being the voice of sports clubs, I will work with the union to:

Stop Scala Scalpers

  • I will lobby the Union to provide an official resale platform
  • Make last minute tickets a possibility!
  • Too many VKs? - Higher chance of getting your money back if you decide not to go

Improve Training for Student Leaders

  • Hundreds of pages of PowerPoints is not fit for purpose
  • They should be more specific for the requirements of student leaders

Make it easier to get in touch

  • I will be reaching to societies to offer myself as a point of contact for anything and everything
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I serve on the committees for Sailing Club and Hiking Club
I am now in my second year of serving as an elected Student Trustee

In terms of my previous promises, thanks to my lobbying the following came about:

  • In Union Cafés prices are now lowered as closing time approaches to reduce food waste
  • Student leader forms are getting a complete shakeup
  • Phineas Bar got a revamp
  • and more!

I have two years of experience engaging in Union politics, I have served as a Societies rep, Welfare Rep, and Arts Rep: I know these processes and how to get things done more than any other unpaid student

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I have been relentlessly dedicated to UCL activity since I joined
In my time I have served on a few committees across a range of positions so I know the day to day struggles of student leaders

I am driven by the idea that I can help, which is why I dedicate every minute of my free time to extracurriculars at UCL

It's why I spent months making a website and app (adamscampustoolbox.org.uk) with various utilities for UCL students and leaders pro-bono, it

  • Stops spam bots for clubs and societies
  • Aggregates events across all club and society instagram accounts
  • Makes it easy to collect receipts
  • and more!

Try Something New. Play Together. Win for UCL.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want UCL to be a place where everyone belongs in sport, whether you're a varsity athlete or have never held a racket. I'll launch "Try Something New" taster sessions, from tennis to skiing, so students can discover new passions without pressure. I'll connect clubs through shared events and tournaments, make sure international and postgraduate students feel included, and turn honest feedback on costs, facilities and timings into real change. Sport should be open, social and exciting for all.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring substantive leadership experience and holistic capabilities. Having served as a student sports department lead, I have mastered rigorous time to sustain high academic standards alongside intensive athletic training. I have earned competitive honours in sports and maintain a proactive mindset to explore working models. I can systematically gather student concerns and translate insights into actionable procedural improvements. My experience also equips me to identify redundant administrative links and streamline workflows, alleviating operational burdens for sports societies and the SU.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me because I don't just talk about sport, I live it and I organise it. I've competed at a high level across many sports, so I understand what athletes need, and I've led teams, so I know how to get things done. I'll listen to every student, from beginners to champions, and keep pushing until your ideas become real events and improvements. I'm ambitious for UCL sport, and I'll work hard to make it better for you. Give me your vote, and I'll give you my all.

Valentino Thomas (He/Him)
Taking UCL sport one step further.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

A Sports Rep represents sports at UCL. As past President of UCL’s largest sports club, I will:

  • Focus on partnering with sports committees across TeamUCL to ensure their experiences and suggestions are heard and acted upon;
  • Create more opportunities to help students get started in sports clubs at UCL, including more taster opportunities and funding to enable this;
  • Advocate for more subsidies and an easier-to-access participation fund for individuals wanting to purchase gear and membership fees;
  • Collab with Phineas + Scala to make sure Sports Nights are always epic, enjoyable, and safe for all.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Last year I was President of UCL Hiking Club, UCL’s largest club with 2700+ members. In this role I:

  • Oversaw strategy, budgeting, and the successful delivery of 120+ events across the whole year.
  • Created easy opportunities for thousands of new students to get involved with our club sport.
  • Developed a detailed understanding of SU processes, including how sports clubs work with the SU to plan events and get students involved in sport.
  • Was honoured to be recognised as one of the “Faces of UCL", a collection of 200 individuals recognised for having a lasting impact at UCL.

Let's see what I can do next.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Sport at UCL should be for everyone, not just the already-sporty.

Why vote for me:

  • Easier to join: cheaper gear and fees, more taster sessions, zero experience needed
  • Your voice, not just mine: you tell me what's missing, I take it to the decision-makers and report back
  • Sports Nights worth going to: epic, fun and safe for all
  • Someone who's been there: I've run a club, so I know what clubs and members really need

Vote Valentino for sport that's easier, cheaper and more fun.
