As a second-year BA Communications student, I got involved in student representation in my first year. As a UCL Student Ambassador, I represent my course and support prospective students exploring university life. I served as an Underrepresented Students Community Facilitator, helping students from backgrounds feel included. This year, I’m a Transition Mentor, guiding incoming BA Communications students into university life. I also led a dementia project tackling misinformation with academic staff. These experiences have strengthened my ability to listen to students and represent their needs.
I want IOE undergraduates to feel that their voices are heard and their concerns are taken seriously. If elected, I would strengthen communication between students and staff, raise awareness of available opportunities and support, and encourage greater student involvement at IOE. Through my leadership roles, I have seen firsthand how important it is for students to feel included and supported. I would bring this experience to the role, listen to students’ concerns and work to ensure their views are represented effectively.
As a BA Communications student in Culture, Communication and Media (CCM), I want to represent both my department and the wider IOE undergraduate community. Spending much of my university week at IOE has helped me understand the importance of a welcoming faculty where students feel connected and supported. My experience working with students, university teams and academic staff has shown me the value of listening to a range of student experiences and concerns. I would listen to their perspectives, communicate students’ concerns and work collaboratively to represent their interests.
Having been involved with the SU throughout my degree, I have acquired a skillset centered around leadership, communication, and event management. My key roles have included -
- Lead Department Rep for PHD in 25/26 (won Rep of the Year Award for the IOE)
- Course Rep in 24/25
- President of one of the 4 academic societies within the IOE in 25/26
During this time, I have championed student feedback, ensured that their concerns reached the appropriate people, raised issues repeatedly to secure change, and come back with updates so that students wouldn't be left out of loop.
If elected, I will ensure that the interests of the students of IOE are well-represented, and that your feedback is taken into consideration while making key decisions so you can retain autonomy over your experience at one of the leading universities of the world. Oftentimes, it can be difficult for faculty to hear student voice, but the crux of the rep system is to fix that issue, and with 2 years of experience under my belt, I intend to take that job seriously.
I will also advocate for greater collaboration between reps & societies so that students can benefit from better networking.
Ever since my first term at this university, I have had a genuine passion for enhancing student voice and ensuring that our opinions are not sidelined in the decision-making process. I have put myself forward for roles that help me relay student feedback repeatedly, and have worked tirelessly to ensure that I do a good job. These roles have also allowed me to build valuable and leverageable connections with students and staff across the IOE.
With your support, I'd like to continue my advocacy for the student experience, and ensures yours is the best it can be.
Having previously been a Course Rep at IOE, I have had the opportunity to listen to students, gather feedback and work with programme and faculty to represent different perspectives. I would build on this by connecting reps across the IOE and making sure students' experiences are reflected in wider discussions. I am a good listener and proactive, and would ensure that students' feedback is followed up on rather than simply raised once.
If elected, I hope to strengthen communication between Academic Reps across different courses and campuses, including better links between UCL East and other IOE locations. I would also like to organise more opportunities for reps to connect through socials and other activities, where students can share their experiences, discuss ideas and give feedback. Ultimately, I hope to build a stronger network where student voices are shared and followed up through meaningful discussions with the UG community.
Want a UG Rep who listens, gets things moving and actually follows up? With previous experiences as a Course Rep at IOE, I know how to bring different perspectives together and make sure feedback reaches the right people. If you want someone approachable, proactive, and ready to make student representation more connected across the IOE, VOTE for me!
- 2 year experience founding & leading a student debate team, building my communication, critical thinking, organisation and active‑listening skills
- International Hong Kong / IB background, fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, with direct awareness of barriers international students face adapting to UK university academic assessment expectations
- As a current first‑year, I bring fresh insight into IOE new‑student transition challenges
- My psychology informed thinking allows me to synthesise diverse student views and deliver focused, fair feedback to teaching teams for all IOE undergraduates
Modules & Planning
- Push for detailed pre‑selection module information sheets covering estimated workload, assessment breakdowns and prior‑knowledge guidance, preventing selecting modules blindly
Assessment Fairness
- Advocate for explicit mark weightings on assignment rubrics and consistent shared grading guidance across IOE programmes to reduce unpredictable marking outcomes
Feedback & Accountability
- Run faculty wide mid‑term feedback surveys, present findings at committee meetings and publish public progress updates so undergraduates can track how student concerns get resolved
- Having led a student debate team, I draw on analytical thinking from my psychology and education degree and my personal understanding of difficulties for international students
- I will systematically gather feedback across all IOE programmes, rather than focusing only on one single course’s concerns
- My core priority is delivering tangible practical outcomes instead of empty campaign promises
- Across my term I will actively follow‑up on student issues, share transparent updates, listen widely and consistently advocate for every IOE undergraduate's interests
As a Course Representative last year, I built strong communication skills and rapport with students, gaining real insight into the issues affecting their course experience. And I didn’t just listen, I acted: lectures became refocused on consolidating learning; overheated lecture rooms were changed; and overwhelming reading lists were reduced. These all started with students reaching out and ended with real changes. This is the approach I would adopt as Faculty Rep: continuing to work with students to strive for tangible change in the quality of our educational experiences in the IOE.
I hope to close the student feedback loop by publishing a 'You Said, We Did' summary each term, allowing all students to see exactly what their feedback helped change. I aim to achieve these changes by working with staff to review common issues and concerns across IOE courses, so the solutions implemented in one course become standard across the entire faculty. I will also ensure that practical concerns for London newcomers (cost, community and study spaces) are prioritised on committee agendas, striving for a faculty environment that balances the needs of both new and returning students.
As a student at a global top university and education faculty, I often experience impostor syndrome, and I know a lot of you might too. Studying at UCL and living in London can be daunting; you may sometimes feel overwhelmed and as if you don't belong. But I want you all to know you deserve to be here. In the IOE you are valued, and your opinion matters as much as anyone's. As your Faculty Rep, you will always have someone who listens to your voice and is dedicated to acting upon it. I've done it at course level, and I'm ready to do it again.
As the Institute of Education UG Rep, I would strive to utilise my strong communication skills, my collaborative mindset, and my genuine commitment in order to represent the interests of my fellow students. I am a passionate and dependable individual who values organisation, approachability, and attentive listening, ensuring that diverse experiences, concerns, and ideas are addressed and thoughtfully considered. As a confident public speaker who values meaningful discussions and is committed to finding effective solutions, I aim to make a lasting contribution to our educational environment.
My aim would be not only to represent individual opinions, but also to encourage a stronger sense of unity and participation within the community. By building a stronger connection between students, staff, the department, the Faculty, and the Student Union, I would contribute to an environment where all individuals feel supported and empowered to take part in positive change. Ultimately, I hope to bridge the gap between students who wish to be heard and the staff who strive to improve the academic experience by ensuring both parties remain informed about relevant discussions and decisions.
Students should vote for me because I would be an approachable, reliable, and committed representative who genuinely listens to their experiences, concerns, and ideas. Furthermore, I would take the time to recognise and build upon the positive aspects of the institute while seeking opportunities to enhance its impact. By voting for me, students would be choosing someone who is responsible, inclusive, and dedicated to strengthening our sense of unity. I would take the time to truly understand any concerns, represent everyone with honesty and respect, and work to improve the student experience.
I have volunteered at many events, including local Olympics, showing my dedication to helping others and my community. My part-time role as a pharmacist assistant has developed my reliability and communication skills, as I interact with different customers every day and ensure their needs are heard. I’m a bubbly and supportive person who wants everyone to feel included. I’m dedicated to listening to students and turning their ideas into reality, while bringing enthusiasm and positivity to the role!
If elected, I hope to make students feel more heard and confident in sharing any ideas or concerns they may have. I want to create a stronger connection between students and the Institute of Education by listening to what students want and making sure their ideas are communicated effectively. I would also like to help create a more welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels involved and knows that their voice matters.
Students should vote for me because I’m a big people person who loves connecting with others and bringing positive energy wherever I go! I’m approachable, bubbly and supportive, and I want students to feel extremely comfortable coming to me whenever they need someone to talk to. I want to be someone they can rely on for support, whether it’s sharing ideas, raising concerns or simply needing a friend. I’m committed to being a rep who gets involved, listens to different perspectives and makes a genuine effort to turn students suggestions into action!
My leadership experience extends across student governance and international education. As a Model United Nations Ambassador in China, I led delegations of students aged 12–19 to NHSMUN at the UN Headquarters in New York, developing expertise in cross-cultural communication, team management and international coordination. As a former Student Council President, I also bring direct experience in student representation. Having studied across Australia, Spain, China and the UK, I bring the adaptability, interpersonal judgement and leadership experience to represent a diverse faculty.
My ambition is to move student representation from reactive to proactive. Rather than waiting for problems to arise, I want to identify shared challenges across programmes, bring students into conversations earlier, and turn their insights into proposals faculty leaders can act on. I hope to establish clearer feedback and follow-up mechanisms, advocate for greater academic flexibility, and strengthen opportunities for cross-programme collaboration. I want students to help shape the IOE experience, not simply experience decisions made for them.
A representative shouldn't be someone you only hear from during elections. They should be someone you can approach when things aren't working, challenge when you disagree, and count on when something matters. I want to earn your trust through what I do, not just what I say today. You don't have to agree with me on everything, or even know me personally. What matters is knowing that when your concerns need to be raised, I'll stand up and do it. You have my word today, my commitment tomorrow, and my loyalty every step of the way: I will leave no one behind.
As first-year Early Childhood Education Course Representative, I gained direct experience in student advocacy, active listening, and faculty collaboration. I am excited to bring this foundation to the IOE UG Representative role. Having lived across four countries, I offer cross-cultural empathy to represent our diverse cohort. I focus on actionable solutions, like introducing peer-evaluation forms to balance project workloads while keeping teams inclusive. By being organised and approachable, I will bridge student voices and leadership to ensure every IOE undergraduate is heard.
If elected, I aim to build a tighter, more connected IOE community by organising engaging academic and social events across all undergraduate cohorts. I plan to create regular informal gatherings and networking workshops so students from different programs can easily connect, collaborate, and support one another. Additionally, I will establish clear, accessible feedback channels to make sure student concerns are promptly heard and acted upon. My goal is to make the IOE an inclusive, lively space where every student feels connected, valued, and empowered.
Please vote for me because I turn student feedback into real action and bring a global perspective to our community. Having lived across different countries, I connect easily with students from all backgrounds, while my Early Childhood Education training makes me an attentive, approachable listener. As your Representative, I will focus on uniting our department through more social and networking events, clarifying student voice channels, and making sure leadership addresses your everyday needs. Let’s make the Institute of Education a more connected, inclusive space together.
- As a final-year student, I can draw on my experiences across IOE to represent students across courses and year groups, ensuring all perspectives are heard.
- As a BA Early Childhood Education Course Rep since my first year, I have experience gathering feedback, representing students in meetings and communicating outcomes to my cohort.
- My roles as an IOE Student Ambassador and Transition Mentor also reflect my strong communication skills and understanding of student needs.
- As the Welfare Officer for UCL Education Society, I am also committed to building an inclusive, welcoming IOE community!
If elected, I hope to:
- Create more opportunities for undergraduate students across courses to connect through socials and collaborative events.
- Work with postgraduate reps to explore further study and career opportunities for undergraduates.
- Improve communication between course reps, departmental reps and faculty staff to identify shared concerns and priorities.
- Make representation more accessible through anonymous feedback forms and informal check-ins.
- Represent students’ experiences in faculty meetings, advocate for effective improvements, and keep students updated on progress and outcomes.
- My roles as Course Rep, IOE Student Ambassador, Transition Mentor and Edusoc Welfare Officer have given me the experience and skills to represent students and support your needs.
- Although I grew up in London, I am also fluent in Chinese (我会说中文!), allowing me to connect with both home and international students and promote an inclusive community.
- My experience working in schools has also given me the empathy and patience to listen to student concerns, collaborate with other reps and advocate for realistic improvements.
- I’d love your support to ensure every IOE student feels heard and represented!
Although not academically related, I founded and led the first Chinese Instrument Ensemble in my high school, leaving a legacy that continues after graduation. I received the “Creative Arts Award of Class 2026” for this contribution. If elected, I hope to bring the same spirit of innovation and commitment to lasting legacies to UCL. My experience taught me to listen to students and bridge student-staff communication. At UCL, I hope to apply these skills to strengthen communication between students and faculty, ensuring no student’s voice is overlooked because they hesitate to speak.
I will try to make the learning environment and the overall atmosphere a more vibrant and welcoming place for both freshers and returning students. As I mentioned in the above question, I would also try my best to make sure all the students' voices can be heard and communicated to the necessary people, using methods to collect students' voices that are acceptable to all students. and bring benefit to the student community. I would also try to bring out more innovative opportunities for students from creative angles that could enrich the students' lives in London beyond just academics.
I am an experienced leader, especially in bridging the communication gap between students and staff. My motive for getting elected is to ensure that every student's voice, no matter whether the student is an introvert or an extrovert, can be heard and brought to people who can take action to make the community a better place. To me, instead of hoping students would treat me as having a role above than them, I hope our relationships can be more friend-like, where they can feel free to tell me whatever they think could have been better in a daily small talk, and leave the coordinating job to me.
