Urja Shah
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Having served as an Academic Representative for MSc Clinical and Public Health Nutrition at UCL last year, and as a Course Representative throughout my BSc, I bring several years of experience in student representation. At UCL, I helped secure extensions to assessment deadlines during busy periods and advocated for additional learning resources. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of UCL's representation processes and how to work constructively with faculty, resolve concerns and support fellow representatives in achieving meaningful changes.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I hope to strengthen communication between students, course representatives and faculty, ensuring feedback leads to meaningful action and that outcomes are communicated clearly. I would focus on addressing shared academic concerns, supporting representatives across programmes and building a stronger sense of community. As UCL's Student Ambassador for The Nutrition Society, I would also use my existing connections to work with faculty in facilitating panel discussions, professional networking and opportunities beyond the classroom.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I bring first-hand experience of representing students and helping achieve positive changes within UCL. I understand the importance of listening to different perspectives, raising concerns constructively and following through until outcomes are communicated. I would be an approachable, proactive and reliable representative who understands both the student perspective and how to navigate university processes, committed to ensuring every programme has a voice and that our collective feedback makes a difference.
