Amara Gill (she/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Having been an Academic Rep and Disability Rep for the Greek and Latin department, I have experience listening to students, representing their views and working with staff to improve the student experience. Additionally, I know how to work with a diverse group of people through volunteering initiatives in education I’ve done throughout the years.

I bring strong communication and organisational skills, alongside being approachable, friendly and enthusiastic!

Most importantly, I am genuinely passionate about helping others and making sure students feel heard in a faculty that feels inclusive.

Progress is a Amara-thon not a sprint
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want every student to feel comfortable raising issues, confident that they will be listened to. I hope to develop the dept by improving everyday student experiences, addressing academic concerns and ensuring that student views are represented. For example, if students feel that assignment feedback is unclear/inconsistent, I would communicate this constructively to staff, so practical solutions can be explored. Where changes can't be implemented at once, I would ensure students understand how their feedback has been considered, strengthening communication between students and the dept.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me if you want a representative who will genuinely listen to you and make sure your voice is heard!

I believe being a good rep means asking, listening and acting. I am truly interested in hearing what everyone has to say, big or small.

As a former Academic Rep, I know the responsibility that comes with representing other students. I want to make sure that everyone feels they have a seat at the table, as everyone has something valuable and important to say.

Voting for me is voting for yourself!

Tahsin Rahman (any)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As an Arts & Humanities undergraduate, I clearly understand the importance of having our experiences represented within the Faculty. I bring strong communication and organisation skills from my studies in English Literature, as well as experience collaborating with others within the UCL community and listening to different perspectives. I have been said to be approachable, as well as proactive, and would work to ensure students' genuine concerns are not only heard, but communicated effectively to staff and translated into meaningful improvements across the Faculty.

Our faculty, our voice.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I aim to obtain regular student feedback each term, and direct efforts to ensuring said feedback is implemented. I emphasise this as undergraduates, even after integrating into UCL, can feel as if their feedback is excessive or unwanted. I would bring these key issues to Faculty meetings and provide students with updates on actions taken. I also hope to organise at least one cross-department Arts & Humanities event, while pushing for clearer communication around academic support and student services.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I'd like to be a rep that students feel comfortable coming to, whether they have a big concern or just an idea they'd like to share. I'll listen to students across the Arts & Humanities departments, take your feedback to the Faculty, and keep you updated on what comes from it. Most importantly, I want students to feel that their voice actually matters (no question is a stupid question!) and that their rep is someone who will act on it. I won't promise to fix everything overnight, but even if I can get the Faculty to hear more of your opinions, I know that it'll make some real change.

Vinuri Gunaratne (She / her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

With over a year's experience as an Arts and Humanities Student Ambassador, as well as a USPC Representative and Transition Mentor for English BA students, I have a strong commitment to ensuring student voices are heard. As an international student and the President of the Sri Lankan society, I understand the importance of an inclusive environment, and I will work my hardest to create an environment where students across the department feel represented. I am dedicated to creating visible and meaningful changes within the faculty, bringing a creative, student - first approach to problems.

We know what we are, but know not what we may be: Making more possible for every student
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I would aim to promote access to work experience and internships for students, while expanding our already existing career and postgraduate event program to further prepare students for life post-university in more areas. I would also seek to foster greater collaboration between departments, organizing joint socials as well as cross-disciplinary events, such as hosting guest speakers. My main aim is to promote an inclusive Faculty community that supports students, equipping them with the right skill sets and opportunities to thrive not just within, but beyond university as well.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

You should vote for me because I bring a blend of student representation, faculty engagement, and leadership. Throughout my time at UCL, both as a student and in roles, I have gained a clear understanding of the challenges we Arts and Humanities students face. As a USPC Rep for English, I have proven that I can effectively communicate student concerns and work with the department to foster tangible change. As a society President, I have built my organization and problem-solving skills, and I plan to use these skills to best represent you and ensure you receive the support to excel.

Shafat Rahman (He/Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

A track record of representing and supporting other students. As Philosophy Prefect, I represented my department in school initiatives and organised discussions that gave peers a space to explore ideas, so I know how to listen to peers and speak up for them. As Summer School Supervisor, I looked after students and supported teachers, which taught me to adapt quickly to people’s different needs. I deal with enquiries from all kinds of people, and I stay patient and professional when things are busy. London-bred, I know this city well and will help students feel welcome, safe and at home.

Listens. Acts. Delivers. That’s ShaFact.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I hope to be a voice students can trust. I want to make sure every Arts and Humanities course is heard and that feedback reaches staff and the students’ union, then keep students updated on what changes. I’d push for careers events that show what humanities graduates can achieve, and better study spaces. Given the multidisciplinary nature of Arts and Humanities, I’d also organise events that bring different courses together, so new students, especially those new to London, feel welcome, safe and part of a community from the start!

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

A good rep is a good person first: someone who listens before speaking, treats everyone fairly and admits when they don’t have the answer. That’s who I want to be for you. As your rep, I’ll make it easy to raise concerns, whether in person, online or anonymously. I’ll take your feedback to staff and the students’ union, push for change, and tell you honestly what was achieved and what wasn’t. Every course in Arts and Humanities deserves an equal voice, and I’ll work to make sure yours is heard.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I would consider myself to be someone who is resilient, determined and helpful (as much as I can be!) Im also someone who looks at both perspectives regarding a conflict and to try create a new synthesis. Additionally, I hold experience with students of all backgrounds and I try to understand everyone to the best of my ability! I study HPE so best believe I do hold some experience with elections!! Whether or not you vote for me, i’m still grateful for this opportunity. Best of luck to other candidates!

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Having been President of the Classics Society at my old school, I understand the importance of making Classics engaging and bringing people together through a shared interest in the ancient world. I’d bring strong communication skills, enthusiasm and the confidence to represent students’ views. I’m also proactive and open-minded, keen to listen to different perspectives and turn suggestions into action. Most importantly, I want to help build a Classics community that celebrates the subject, supports its students and challenges the perception that humanities degrees are less valuable than STEM.

#humanities>>stem
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to challenge the perception that Classics is an unemployable degree, or that the humanities are somehow less valuable than STEM. Classics develops skills in critical thinking, analysis, argument and understanding human behaviour that are invaluable across careers. As someone interested in both Classics and its wider relevance, I’d love to promote these transferable skills and show studying the ancient world can prepare us for the modern one. I’d bring enthusiasm, initiative and a desire to help Classics students feel proud of what they study and confident in where it can take them.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me because someone needs to represent the people willingly spending three years studying a civilisation that collapsed. As your Classics Rep, I’ll make sure your concerns actually reach the department, whether it’s module feedback, teaching issues or wondering why we’ve chosen a degree that our parents still struggle to explain to relatives. Having been President of my school’s Classics Society, I know how to bring classicists together. Let’s make sure the department takes us as seriously as we take arguing about dead Greeks.

Aimee (Yang Zhang)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Having served as an Academic Rep throughout 2025‑2026, I already have hands‑on experience collecting student feedback and communicating with department staff. I am patient, organised and good at listening. I can sort scattered student concerns clearly and pass realistic demands to the faculty. I remain impartial when handling conflicting opinions between students and the university, and I pay close attention to details related to coursework, timetables and learning resources.

Here to listen, here to support, I’m always here for YOU :)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My main goal is to build smoother two‑way communication between students and the faculty. I intend to gather feedback regularly on teaching quality, assessment arrangements and learning support services. I will push for clearer, timelier official responses to common student worries. Besides, I want to make sure quieter students’ voices and international students’ voices are also heard. I aim to turn general complaints into practical, actionable improvements for everyone’s study experience.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me because I already know how representative work operates from my past‑year experience. I created a group chat especially for Chineses students on WeChat as quite a lot of them don’t usually check on what apps or emails, this always enables me to help the teacher reach everyone and convey messages. I am approachable and easy to reach, ready to listen to different views. I treat all views fairly and will advocate firmly for our cohort when negotiating with faculty. I will keep you updated about progress so you know exactly what changes are being discussed.
