If elected, I want students to know what happens after they raise an issue. I would keep accurate, accessible records, help set clear agendas and follow up agreed actions so concerns do not disappear after a meeting. I would make it easier for students who cannot attend to contribute beforehand, bring shared priorities into discussions, and report back afterwards on what was decided and what happens next.
I have several years of student representation experience. At college, I started in member and deputy roles before going on to lead both the student representative team and student council, as well as serving as student governor. At Kingston University, I was a course rep and represented the university at the local council. My DWP policy internship taught me to work with evidence, meetings, and senior stakeholders, while my writing background helps me turn long discussions into clear updates.
Students should vote for me because I know the unglamorous part of representation matters: listening properly, keeping an accurate record, chasing actions and telling people what happened. I have spent years in student representative roles, including leadership positions. I would bring that experience to the Network, while making a point of seeking out different disabled students’ views rather than assuming my own experience speaks for everyone.
In this role, I hope to create a organised and inclusive Disabled students network where students feel that their experiences are heard and taken forward. I also intend to support the Student Officer in ensuring that members are well-informed and that meetings are effectively organised and run through clear and well-structured agendas. By helping to capture the priorities and decisions of the network accurately, I hope to support meaningful communication and ensure that members can see how their contributions feed into the network’s work.
My lived experience gives me an understanding of the importance of accessibility, inclusion and having disabled students’ voices represented and heard. As an Occupational Therapist, I have developed strong skills in listening, communication and understanding individual needs. My professional experience has taught me to consider different perspectives, communicate sensitively, and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds. I also bring experience from volunteering with different organisations and community initiatives.
Students should vote for me because I understand the importance of making disabled students feel heard, represented and included, and I would bring this perspective to the network. I am organised, approachable and a good listener, with strong communication skills and experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. I would be committed to making the network a welcoming and organised space where students can share their experiences and contribute meaningfully to decisions that affect them.
