What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to be the LGBTQ+ Students' Network Secretary first and foremost because I believe a lot more could be done to support lesbian, gay and bisexual students at UCL. I would work with the Officer and other representatives in the Network to achieve that.

The Network is too political, and it is not doing enough to bring together all the different sexual and gender identities that make up LGBTQ+ students at UCL. I would like to put myself forward as a voice for those which the Network is not currently listening to.

Isra Khalid (She/Her)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I hope to create a transparent, inclusive and well-organised network where everyone feels safe to raise ideas, issues and feedback. As secretary, I will make sure meetings run efficiently, with clear agendas, structured minutes, and an open archive accessible to all members. I want to strengthen communication and collaboration between members and support the Student Officer in planning meetings. I am also hoping to learn something new and expand my professional toolbelt from this experience.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring strong administrative and interpersonal skills learned from previous roles as a secretary, events officer and student lead. I Have coordinated meetings, taken minutes, managed communications and ensured smooth operations. Having worked in queer spaces and organised pride events previously, I understand the need for sensitivity, structure and inclusivity. I am efficient, dependable and bring a bright, positive attitude that is always ready to take on a challenge.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am eager to help the UCL LGBTQ+ Network run smoothly so members can focus on meaningful events, advocacy and community. I will ensure clear communication, efficient meetings and consistent follow-up. As a queer Arab woman, representation is deeply important to me, and I would love to contribute to a space that reflects the diversity of our community. My experience in queer advocacy and event organisation, paired with my reliability and enthusiasm, make me a strong fit for this role.
