If I am elected, I hope to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable and included. I want to be approachable and helpful, whether it’s with practical matters or just being there to listen. At the same time, I’d love to organize engaging activities that bring people together and help everyone connect with each other. My goal is to make our hall not only run smoothly, but also feel like a real community where students feel supported, valued, and connected.
I will bring an open-minded and approachable attitude, which helps me connect with people from different backgrounds. I’m good at listening and taking feedback, and I see criticism as a chance to grow. I am also patient and adaptable, which means I can handle challenges calmly and find solutions when things don’t go as planned. Most importantly, I really enjoy helping others and working as part of a team, so I will always do my best to support both the students and the hall community.
Students should vote for me because I truly want our hall to feel like a community, not just a place to stay. I’m approachable, supportive, and open to feedback, but I also bring fresh ideas and energy. I’d love to organize fun activities that help us connect, make memories, and enjoy hall life together. If you want someone who listens, takes action, and makes life here better, I’m that person.
I would like to achieve a positive experience of residing in Ramsay Hall and Ian Baker House for all students and staff. I would do this by:
Making sure every student feels connected, supported and represented
Building a community in the accommodation by holding inclusive events
Increasing engagement at functions to make sure everyone is welcome and no one is left behind
Improve our recycling, increasing the number of bins for waste such as paper, tins and plastics
Fundraising events, such as cake sales, to raise money for charities
Using the TV room for events like Eurovision and football
In the past, I have volunteered at a museum as a tour guide. Before I could fully take my position I completed training on Health and Safety, Safeguarding and EDI. Whilst working at the museum I worked with the staff and other volunteers to effectively deliver outstanding visitor experience. I recieved excellent feedback from Visit England. Whilst at college I was on the student council as the Charity officer. During my time, we raised large sums of money for a variety of causes including Children in Need, Red Nose Day, a local veterans group, a homeless shelter and Macmillan Cancer Support.
I am going to listen and engage with members of our community. If I am personally unable to help with an issue, I will relay the problem to the appropriate professional. In previous positions I have been credited with being incredibly approachable. If elected I will:
Organise end of term celebrations
Increase engagement with events
Hold charity and fundraising events
Investigate the possibility to celebrate national TV events including Eurovision, Brit Awards and sporting fixtures
Improve waste management for environmental reasons
Other fresh ideas to make our halls more engaging
My aim would be to create an inclusive space where people of Ramsay and Ian Baker can get together over creative, light hearted and relaxed events to take a break from the chaos of first year! I’d love to have the opportunity to host and be part of a variety events, with openness to suggestions. Even though we’re no longer in the Fresher phase, I still think it’s important to get to know each other in halls!
I was always an active participant in the community during secondary school and Sixth Form, working as part of a team for charity events, and annual events such as Mental Health Awareness, Comic Relief and International Women’s Day. In Sixth Form, I was part of ‘Community Leadership’, and I led and was part of events, including fundraising for Breast Cancer Now, making props for a photo booth, and making a Valentine’s box for Valentine’s Day! During the summer, I spent a month volunteering and exploring Cambodia where I had the opportunity to lead our group during project work.
My creative skills, leadership experience and commitment, as well as the openness to constructive feedback and suggestions from others means I would be an ideal candidate for the role of Hall Community Officer at Ramsay and Ian Baker. I have been praised by my teachers and classmates at school for my strong work ethic, reliability, kindness and positive attitude, and the ability to plan events and make them happen at short notice.
