Election post
As the 2024-25 Lead Academic Representative for Biomedical Sciences, I’ve chaired SPC meetings and liaised with the faculty, making me well-acquainted with this role’s responsibilities.
I’ve been very active in the life sciences community at UCL, being part of the committee of Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and MedTech Societies. I believe I’m a familiar face for life sciences students across all years, making me very approachable for help.
I have extensive leadership, communication and time-management skills from being president of 3 different societies at UCL and Chair of Student Council.
- Create a centralised Google Form available on the group description of each course’s WhatsApp groupchat, so students can submit concerns anytime. This would be regularly checked and relayed to staff by the faculty’s academic reps
- Organise faculty-wide events with department reps (e.g. expand the Life Sciences football match into a sports day)
- Build a faculty alumni network and host networking events, connecting students to graduates for mentorship / career advice
- Offer opportunities for those aiming nontraditional careers (e.g. consulting, policy, entrepreneurship) & careers outside of the UK
I have experience as the Lead Academic Rep for Biomedical Sciences, and I believe that I’ve been a familiar face in the life sciences community, making me very approachable. I’m very organised and manage my time well too (I was in 5 different committees last year).
I promise to prioritise your needs throughout this academic year! Alongside addressing your concerns, I will focus on creating both social and career opportunities using departmental and societal collaborations and resources, ensuring a well-rounded university experience for everyone in the faculty.
