Candidates

Sadaf Davari (she/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

At Kingston University (2021-2024), I was a Course and Faculty Representative (2022-2023), advocating for student concerns and driving change. I represented Kingston nationally at the 2022 Liverpool Conference as an NUS delegate. I possess leadership, communication skills and years of experience collecting feedback and liaising between students and academics. I bring representation experience from course to national level, genuine compassion, and commitment to seamless student life. Most importantly, I will listen to what students need and ensure every voice shapes UCL's future.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  • Champion under-represented voices – particularly BAME students and ethnic minorities – ensuring their concerns are heard and addressed.
  • Advocate for inclusive education that removes barriers for students with disabilities and creates equal opportunities for women and LGBTQ+ students.
  • Improve teaching quality feedback by creating transparent systems where student input drives visible improvements and accountability, not administrative dead ends.
  • Support international students  -  clearer visa guidance, enhanced cultural integration, and resources addressing their academic and social challenges.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

As an experienced neurodivergent BAME representative, I understand firsthand the importance of having someone who reflects your experiences and will fight for inclusive policies that benefit everyone. Your UCL experience should be defined by opportunity, support, and belonging – not barriers.

Vote Sadaf Davari – because representation matters, inclusion isn't optional, and your future at UCL deserves a voice that will never stop fighting for you.

Paula Xho Vilajeti (she/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring strong communication and collaboration skills, developed through academic and professional experience, along with a commitment to listening to diverse student voices. I am proactive in problem-solving, approachable, and motivated to ensure all PGT students feel supported. I will represent concerns effectively at faculty and union level to drive positive change.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I aim to strengthen the link between students, Course Reps, and faculty, ensuring postgraduate voices shape decisions on teaching and learning. I want to improve communication so students know their feedback leads to action, and advocate for better academic support, resources, and wellbeing provision that enhance the PGT experience.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for me because I am committed to being an active, approachable, and effective representative. I will listen to concerns, amplify your voices at faculty level, and work to secure meaningful improvements. My goal is to ensure every PGT student feels heard, valued, and supported throughout their studies.

Usman Bawani (he/him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring experience of leading student groups, representing peers in academic and non-academic settings, and solving problems that matter day to day. I know how to listen carefully, gather concerns, and turn them into clear actions. I’m approachable and understand that many students feel ignored when small issues add up. With persistence, communication, and a focus on practical outcomes, I will make sure concerns are not just raised but actually addressed, so our voices are heard and respected.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to make sure every student feels supported, not just in lectures but throughout the bigger milestones like final projects and dissertations. These often come with unclear expectations, limited supervisor availability, or last-minute guidance that leaves students stressed. I’ll push for more structured support, earlier feedback, and better access to resources so students can focus on doing their best work. My aim is to make sure the effort we put into our projects gets the support it deserves.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Because I care about more than just fixing small issues, I want to help us leave this program better prepared for the future. Alongside solving practical problems like delayed recordings or room shortages, I’ll push for stronger career support: more employer events, skills workshops, and alumni connections tailored to our fields. University should prepare us for the next step, not just hand out grades. If you want someone who will fight for both your present and your future, I’ll be that voice.
