Candidates

Oskar Barltrop (he/him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

In this role, I would seek to create a stronger connection and more active dialogue between students and the reception, canteen and cleaning staff.

My main priorities would be steered by the students' main concerns and I would seek to tackle issues, that shouldn't be issues, such as students having to report issues several times for them still not to see any action being taken and a more accurate accommodation website.

If a table tennis table is broken, if some rooms don't have sinks, if the showers only run for 30 seconds, the website should say so. Or these issues should actually be addressed.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

At Sixth Form I was a student rep and played a lead role organising football leagues, socials and tackling the rise of Andrew Tate in schools. I work well with teaching staff and peers, but I'm not afraid of speaking truth to power. I'm student representative for my course, but would still throw my time and energy into this!

I like to think of myself as sociable, approachable and easy-going. I'm always up for getting to know new people,

I like to take initiative and would love to organise some more socials at 109 Camden Road, such as a table tennis competition or some chill card games nights...

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Having already lodged several complaints about the accommodation and having had a formal meeting with the accommodation deputy manager, I am now seeking your trust and your vote to raise our voices stronger.

Issues such as, replacing a light bulb, unlocking a common room or fixing a radiator shouldn't have to be reported several times for you still not to see any action taken. It's not good enough and it demands change.

I like to think of myself as friendly and approachable, so I'm always up for a walk or getting to know someone at dinner.

So, vote for a stronger student voice now! Vote Oskar :)
