Election post
Hey! I'm Jim, the Treasurer of UCL Cricket this year and I want to be your Sports Rep for Sports Night. As a proud SCALA regular I'd love to use my skills and experience to help make Sports Night the best it can possibly be.
My experience:
- As Treasurer of the Cricket Club I have experience in communicating with outside companies, sponsors and kit partners.
- I am on the socials committee at my home cricket club. Over the summer we delivered bi-weekly socials with a significant spike in attendance.
- I have been heavily involved in sports for years with experience in captaincy and coaching.
Whilst Sports Night is already great there are a number of changes that if delivered could make it even better.
- Make Phineas a better, more welcoming venue for Sports Night. Some simple changes such as making the music quieter would allow for greater opportunities to get to know your own club and allow for better collaboration.
- Lobby for a conversation about Sports Night Bar Allocation. TeamUCL had over 11,000 members last year and a bar with a capacity of 350.
- Emphasise the importance of club feedback throughout the year and create greater channels to provide feedback to set my agenda.
UCL Sport is something I am incredibly passionate about. Since coming to UCL, sport has been the backbone of my social life and where I've found my closest friends. As I enter the new year I want to give back to this community in a greater way outside of just my sport. Being a Sports Rep and being part of the Activities Zone would allow me to make a real impact to help deliver the ideas of TeamUCL members to improve our already incredible community. I am committed to making sports night the best it possibly can be, especially given the importance of socials in university sport.
