Election post
Hi, I’m Bella and I’m running for Sports Rep, specifically for the Campaigns role.
I have been heavily involved in UCL sport throughout my 3 years here, loving every bit of it, and I hope I can continue to do so! As a 3x committee member for UCL’s largest martial arts club, I have learnt how to successfully run a club and foster a community. Having competed on the Netball team and also participated in a TeamUCL social league, I gained insights into different club members' experiences in different environments. This has helped me highlight what TeamUCL can do to best support clubs.
If elected, my focus will be on both new campaigns and enhancing Team UCL’s pre-existing ones.
Many clubs want to participate in campaigns but don't know where to start. I aim to demystify this by creating a more systematic approach to help them get started.
One of the key things I wish to highlight if I am elected is greater support and guidance for clubs and individual members around eating disorders and body image in sport. As someone who had to stop elite competition due to the consequences of disordered eating, this is something I feel very passionate about and feel deserves more attention.
In short, I bring not only a wealth of experience but also a deep passion for sports. As a 2x President, winner last year’s ‘Unsung Hero’ Award and key contributor to ‘Club of the Year 2024’, I know the ins and outs of sport at UCL and its impact on people’s lives during a turbulent time at university. By harnessing sport as a tool for social impact, I hope to create a more accessible system of support for students both for sport and their lives outside of sport. Sport clubs were my haven during my years at UCL so far and I hope to give back to others through this role.
