Election post

Status
Elected
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Affiliation Fee = £30k/year but NUS remains so distant from our wellbeing. NUS must make clear how our money is spent.

NUS must clarify if they are “led by students and students’ unions”.

Enough Racism

"NUS is ... is not a safe space for Muslims” – Federation of Student Islamic Societies

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Have attended Conferences for the Labour Party as a delegate and observed AGMs and conferences for CND (whose council I'm a member of) and Stop the War Coalition. I know how to navigate NUS conference and can therefore best serve UCL students’ interests

Purposeful speaker Since the age of 6, I've been speaking to politicians (like Michael Gove) and organising/speaking at panel discussions, open meetings and rallies. Public speaking is my bread, and I know how to represents UCL students.

I know when to keep things brief and present text in a skim-able format, like this piece here!

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Sending me to conference means sending clear messages to NUS:

  • NUS must establish clear communications with their student membership and be an active asset to our wellbeing.
  • NUS must be transparent on the services they provide and how our affiliation fee is spent.
  • NUS must prove that they value our democratic voice and commit to never repeating the improper procedure used against Dellali.
  • NUS must stop ignoring the hierarchy of racism that reports have warned of and become a welcoming space for all minorities.

Vote Junayd for justice and accountability in NUS.
