Hi everyone, I'm Seth and I'm running to be your faculty rep for initial teacher training!
I've been a zone rep before, and actually managed to pass a policy (somehow) so thought I'd be a good fit to represent us as I already know how all the union bye-laws work and how to annoy the right people if you want to get heard.
If I'm being realistic, zone reps cant achieve much alone - they are one vote out of 40 across UCL.
As a result I would aim to work with fellow reps to try and get policies across the line - we dont want a repeat of last year where progressive climate policies lose by one vote due to engineers wanting to keep their big oil company jobs being advertised by UCL.
I'll also make sure the voice of teacher training students is heard at zone meetings - often post grad students are neglected when it comes to UCL wide policy, and i can only imagine its worse for us given we arent on campus much.
I don't imagine many people are going to run for this, but I just wanted to make sure that someone did - We need to have somebody making sure we arent left out of any discussions.
If someone else has ran for this go ahead and give them a try - Just make sure you also vote for me to be student trustee as then I might be slightly more able to change things.
With 6 years of experience in Higher Education, including my role as Provost on student affairs in Kazakhstan, I bring a deep understanding of the Higher Education system. My expertise lies in building efficient systems and ensuring smooth educational processes. As a current student, I am uniquely positioned to provide valuable feedback to enhance educational quality. Additionally, my strong facilitation and negotiation skills enable effective dialogue between faculty and students, fostering a collaborative academic environment.
If elected, I aim to facilitate international cooperation between students, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. I will actively address issues as they arise, ensuring timely and effective solutions. My commitment is to support every student in my cluster, providing guidance and assistance whenever needed. I also aspire to contribute to the next cohort by offering up-to-date feedback, enhancing the educational experience. Protecting the interests of my peers in the EID cluster is a priority, and I will work diligently to represent their voices and concerns.

Hi I’m Nasha! I’m originally from Karachi, Pakistan but I did my undergraduate degree in History and Politics at the University of Edinburgh. I'm currently doing a Secondary PGCE in History at the IOE.
I've been a Welcome Week ambassador twice (at Edin), worked alongside international students as a proofreader and mentor, and tutored SEN-D students. I want to understand the various needs of our diverse cohort, and will strongly advocate for current and future students.
I aim to share my knowledge and experiences and foster a diverse and supportive environment.
As Faculty Rep for 24/25, I have 3 goals
- Create greater cross-subject interaction: using PGT course reps as a point of contact, I'd like to encourage collaboration between students on all IOE courses by organising more PGT socials, encouraging the use of Moodle/Whatsapp groups and creating dedicated social spaces at the IOE campus
- Foster better engagement with faculty: I will listen to your feedback and be honest with faculty about the pros and cons of tutorials and seminars (so don't hold back!)
- Ensure UCL follows through on their promise to set up microwaves around IOE and introduce kettles as well
Energise. Empower. Enable.
These three words summarise the type of rep I want to be.
- I'm proactive and make sure to deliver on any promises I make (without overpromising!)
- I prioritise mental health and well-being and understand that everyone has specific needs; I will work hard to make sure those are taken into account
- I always keep an open mind to critique and welcome change
- I believe that a good Faculty Rep empowers every student - I promise to use this platform fairly and give voice to all opinions and beliefs
