Candidates

Abbey Smith (She/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have previous experience of being Student Rep for the Faculty of Music at King's College London; I raised student access issues with the online library system for our required reading and gave inputs on accessibility problems in the building. I held positions as both head of the Art and Music Societies in Sixth Form which gave me experience of working with students and felt I was approachable to younger students when teaching tutorials. I am confident and relaxed in public speaking having had performance lessons at the Royal Academy of Music.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I would be proactive in addressing any arising academic issues from my course mates throughout the year. I would intend to make sure our year group and older MSci students share events together throughout the year so that we get to know each other and learn from each other. I hope that we can arrange opportunities to get to know the BSc architecture students too and compare experiences; maybe bringing some of their academic experiences into elements of our course.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I hope to be an approachable figure for my course mates to raise any concerns about MSci, especially since it is one of the newer programmes. I will endeavour to ensure MSci is an enjoyable course and will draw on my previous experience as student rep at my previous university.
