Election post

Elected
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

In my capacity as President of the Juggling and Circus Society, I have had the opportunity to contribute to UCL's student media scene by engaging in civic journalistic discourse on Twitter. For example, that time when we issued a statement explaining that we have been banned from Twitter by the SU. This was not true but we tweeted it anyway, not only because it was funny, but above all because we believe that misinformation is the backbone of British journalism. In the words of Penny Mordaunt, I will have courage, I will bring hope, and I will stand up and fight.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I will put an end to the Union oppression of The Cheese Grater Magazine. There is no reason why Pi Media should get its own office in the societies common room when The Cheese Grater isn't even classed as student media. Like I had to get a Pi taster just to nominate myself for this position. Now I accept that this may have been an oversight on the Union's behalf. But I draw the line at Pi's longstanding monopoly of this role. I have not looked up who have held the role in the past but from vague memory it has always been someone from Pi. I might also have made this up. But my point remains.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

When I was Accommodation Officer for the SU last year, I was told off by SU senior management for giving The Cheese Grater Magazine an interview about the delays scandal at UCL East, in which I confided certain conversations I have had with UCL Accommodation officials which they later told me 'breached the confidence between the Union and the SU'. At the time I backed down and apologised because I was a bastard and a coward. I would like to take this opportunity to rescind my apology and say that I intend to destroy this confidence once more as Societies Rep (Student Media).
