What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Hi I’m Jacqui! I’m originally from Hong Kong, I moved to London to study at UCL for my undergraduate degree in Architecture (2018-2021). I am now studying an MA in Art Education at the IOE.

I love being back at UCL, the first place I truly felt at home, having opportunities again to represent our diverse student voice.

During my second year, I had the humbling experience of being president of a cultural society, called the Association of British and Chinese University Students.

Booking rooms for our social events here at IOE actually piqued my interest to study and teach here in the future!

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My familiarity liaising with the Student’s Union, IOE & the Bartlett has helped me devise 3 realistic targets as Faculty Rep for 23/24:

1. Creating a WhatsApp Group/Teams space of PGT course reps to facilitate regular meetings & build a strong communication chain between students → course reps → faculty members

2. Fostering a sense of wider community within all postgrads using this group, allowing us reps to organise more PGT socials & inform you who is a point of contact for another course

3. Introducing microwaves around IOE so we can heat food - if Student Centre has them, why can’t we? :)

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am a ‘do-er’, if I say I’ll do something, I will try my hardest to get it done!

As an international student, I'm keen to integrate students who can’t speak English well into the IOE.

I love meeting people of all ages, races & socioeconomic backgrounds, hearing everyone's opinions on how we can come together to make change happen.

I'm passionate about communicating the importance of mental health support at UCL & improving our extenuating circumstances policy.

I've been nominated as course rep & now hope to make changes for the wider faculty!

Thanks for reading, hope to hear from you soon :)
