Being a former Student Voice Forum(school district)member honed my leadership and communication skills, enabling effective advocacy for student interests. As a returning student, I have a more extensive understanding of the faculty, its courses, and its structure, positioning me to effectively represent for current & new students(as I’m familiar with both classes). My international upbringing, fluency in English and Mandarin, and BIPOC/LGBTQIA+ perspective empower me to bridge cultural and linguistic divides, ensuring equitable support and inclusive advocacy for students from diverse backgrounds.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, my foremost goals revolve around cultivating an atmosphere that promotes active engagement with the faculty and the student body to collaboratively forge an educationally equitable, inclusive, and supportive environment. This entails facilitating a welcoming and encouraging environment, creating safe spaces, and establishing liaison between the faculty and the student body through effective communication and amplifying student voices to ensure they are heard and addressed. I aim to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion for all students from all backgrounds and of all identities.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

A combination of practical knowledge about the faculty, leadership experience, global perspectives, and advocacy for mental health & LGBTQIA+ awareness renders me a valuable candidate. As a Chinese-Canadian,I can understand diverse student perspectives and communicate fluently in English & Mandarin. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community,I'm deeply committed to providing support, creating safe spaces, and fostering inclusivity for everyone.Being neurodivergent,I understand the significance of mental wellness, and I'm here to raise awareness and connect students to the resources/ support they may need.

Harshal Gulabchandre (He/Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I offer many critical attributes for this role. As a final year student on the BSc Architecture programme, the personal experience of two years of UG study – as well as having witnessed the journey of others through the school – puts me in a strong position to now advocate for change. As the UG Faculty Representative, I aim to serve others in all that I do, including serving my peers' needs and driving essential changes for a more purposeful Bartlett education. Also, my strong belief in mentoring will play a central role in connecting different year groups within the Undergraduate courses.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  • Cross-UG Student Mentoring: Collaborating with Y1 teams, I aim to enhance mentoring opportunities for current students, offering support in academic skills + project guidance for Y1 students.
  • Bartlett Food Security Volunteering Register: I aim to engage Bartlett students in addressing food insecurity and poverty across London through a growing list of food volunteering opportunities. (supported by Environmental Design staff and BSoc President)
  • Facilities for UG Students – Improve printing + scanning services for students, as well enhancing architectural model photography facilities.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am currently in the process of enacting some of the changes I have listed; if elected, I would be able to use the support of key figures in the Bartlett’s leadership to provide these pledges and further serve my peers. I believe the Bartlett offers undergraduate students an incredible stepping stone towards pursuing a wide range of careers. Further improving the academic experience of our institution, through the changes that I have described above for instance, will allow students to flourish as they work to serve others in preparation for wider roles in the built environment profession.
