What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a PhD student at the ION, I have gained valuable experience in conducting cutting-edge research in neuroscience with a bent on social and mental health. I have also developed skills in communication, collaboration, and leadership through working with other researchers, clinicians, and students. I am passionate about improving the education provision and student experience in the Faculty of Brain Sciences, and I believe I have the qualities to be an effective Faculty Rep. I am proactive, reliable, and empathetic, and I can represent the diverse views and needs of the students in my faculty.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I hope to achieve better student-supervisor relationships in the Faculty of Brain Sciences, as they are crucial for academic success and well-being. I will work with the Union and the University to provide more support and guidance for students and supervisors, such as workshops, feedback mechanisms, and mediation services. I will also advocate for student welfare and mental health, and raise awareness of the challenges and pressures that students face in their research journey. If elected, I will work hard to liaise with other reps, the Union, and the University to enhance student success.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

My PhD journey has been full of challenges, from financial difficulties, to academic struggles, to psychological stress. I have overcome them with resilience and determination, and I want to use my experiences to help other students in the Faculty of Brain Sciences. As your Faculty Rep, I will initiate or strengthen programmes that will secure student's financial and academic security, such as student intra-/entrepreneurship, scholarships, grants, mentoring, and tutoring. Vote for me if you want a Faculty Rep who understands your challenges and who will fight for your interests and well-being!
