What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Hey! My name is Danilo and I have been on the committee for the past 2 years! As Disabled Rep I will ensure that the voices of LGBTQ+ disabled students are heard and that we can help make a difference in our university. I will ensure that our events are as accessible as possible and would bring in guest speakers (such as Venetia Blind, a drag queen and disability activist who is amazing!) to support our students and staff. I am also going to continue hosting events for all LGBTQ+ students (both online and in-person) and pressure the UCL academic board to vote to rejoin Stonewall ASAP!

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have been on the committee since October 2020 and thus I have a lot of experience, and I was also the co-Disabled Students Officer last year. I was also in a lot of society committees last year (but have cut back massively this year) and thus I have a lot of contacts for collabs and support! I have worked in 3 LGBTQ+ nightclubs and am in Soho every single day and thus I have a lot of contacts for that as well! I have worked extremely hard in the past month in trying to organise events for freshers and will continue to do that all year, in addition to fundraising for LGBT+ causes.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

My past 2 years at UCL have been disrupted by various health issues and I want to help students going through the same -I care a lot about LGBT+ and disabled students and really hope that in my role I can make this year as good and accessible as possible. I will work hard on organising many events for both disabled and LGBT+ students, including more speed-friendings, talks, clubnights, collabs, kahoots, movie screenings and more, as well as many collabs and information sessions! I also want to make sure that disabled students are heard and will work with the union and the DSN to ensure this.
