What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have proven communication skills, demonstrated by me giving a Tedx speech, hosted a podcast ranking 73rd in Apple Podcast Books, having a Quora account with 1.7mln views, published two books, came 2nd in a national public speaking competition, won essay competitions such as the RES YEOY or Uniadmissions, and winning Best Delegate at Cambridge and Rome MUN Events.

I also have solid team work and leadership experience, such as leading a team of 4 at the IEA Budget Challenge (Finalists with internship offer). I also led a team of 8 at the Wharton School Competition (23rd/4900 global rank).

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

In the capacity of a rep, I want to further enhance my negotiating skills as I push for a bettering of students' learning experiences across the whole of UCL, as well as maintaining an active role in the Union's activities and campaigns. I also would like to develop or enhance attributes benefitting my personal or professional endeavours, since this role offers formal training opportunities.

Above all else, it is a chance for me to meet new people, and make new friends, not only during the Staff-Student Consultative Committee meetings, or listening to feedbacks from my peers: simple as that!

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Why not vote for me?

Because if you don't vote for me, UCL's student union will miss out on an individual who maintains a proactive stance on his duty, whom his past experience is proof of both his commitment and ability, who maintains a constant eagerness to learn and listen as well as providing useful feedback.

So, dear stranger, look in my eyes and vote for me, and you won't regret it. While others focus on their promises upon obtaining this role, I seek to use my past experience in handling matters similar to this role to convince you that I am a good fit and worthy of your vote!

Leon Crook
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have always worked to help other students succeed. In secondary school, I tutored both maths and chemistry. At UCL, I’ve continued as a mentor. I know the breadth of challenges students face at university, I’ve lived them, and I have the experience to represent our interests to the faculty.

Last year, I worked at two startups while studying, and worked at a third over the summer. It wasn’t easy, but I learnt so much from these jobs. I also helped organize last year’s Green Business Forum. The same effort I poured into my work last year, I will dedicate to being the best rep possible.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I’m a third year economics student, but I will represent every department equally. I will take the time needed to understand the unique requirements of each course, and do my best to represent those interests. In this spirit, my objectives are to:

- Improve communication between departments

- Protect financial support for students

- Maintain access to online lectures

- Push for students to receive prompt and informative feedback

- Clarify exam conditions as quickly as possible

- Ensure every year group is treated fairly, without favouritism

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

University isn’t easy, and with tuition fees it’s not just an education, it’s an investment. We deserve a university that supports us. There is little worse than the helplessness a student feels when they are let down by the university, one person against a huge organization. I can’t guarantee that UCL will get everything right, but I will do all I can to make right anything that they get wrong. With me as your representative, you will always have someone who will fight for you.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I will bring courage to this role.

I got rejected in my applications, got C, sometimes lower in my exam practice. I stumbled, and failed most of the times.

But I never stopped trying, and I will work in this position with that spirit.

For every dissent, I will listen. For every changes required, I won't stop trying. If I didn't try, I couldn't point out the decentralised PRS in our faculty. Even if I fail, the idea gets to be presented to the elected rep and the student community. I believe every attempt leaves behind positive impacts, and failure is an opportunity to start again.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Say you have a question from the lecture, what would you do?

I'd send an email to my tutor, while others do it through Moodle forums. Some take ages for a reply, others find it puzzling to access the digital panel.

UCL has a decentralised Personal Response System (PRS), and I want to make a change. I will bring this to the SSCC with a solution: Piazza. LSE students have been using it. They receive instant feedback from module instructors. If elected, I will advocate this across the faculty. Due to limit characters, for further information please email.

I can't change this without your vote.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am making a change that might impact the education within, or beyond the faculty for years to come. Firstly, I will be recruiting volunteers to collect opinions from the faculty. Subsequently, I would produce a proposal to present to the SSCC. From there, I would consult the difficulties of promoting this software and find corresponding solutions. I will then involve in SSCC to create instructions on the software to help students adapt. Targeted communication in the age of the internet is vital, and that is the first change I will bring. By voting, you are taking part in the action.
