Alya Masoud Abdelhafid
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Prior to joining UCL’s Post-Graduate Cohort, I completed my studies at King’s College London (KCL). There, I was President of the King’s College London Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology Society, where I developed a strong passion for working with my community to foster meaningful connections.Furthermore, I held the position of Co-Team leader of the KCL iGEM 2021 team and was also a Student Rep for my undergraduate cohort. Throughout these experiences, I prioritised respectful communication amongst my peers and teammates to ensure everyone was able to access equal opportunities.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I hope to work alongside my peers in order to build an inclusive platform, that will unite individuals from all academic backgrounds and encourage our growth as academics, researchers and future scientists. Together we can promote a community, which cherishes meaningful connections, innovative ideas and emerging technologies from our cohort. Vote for me and let us grow together!

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

As Brain Faculty Rep, I hope to share my passion and focus my strengths towards supporting my peers during their time at UCL. I believe it is essential for everyone to access equal opportunities and to use their PGT studies as a foundational platform to support their career development. I promise to be both understanding and easily accessible – whenever you may need advice or action taken. Furthermore, I promise to ensure we actively handle every situation brought to our attention with the faculty, in order to ensure we are creating a safe space for everyone within our cohort.

Ishana R Gole
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a representative of the faculty, I aim to channel creativity, drive value and facilitate effective communication between the stakeholders. I have been studying away from home since I was 15. Furthermore, I have lead teams within the scope of my work as a medical writer, brand manager and vaccination volunteer during the pandemic. My education and experiences, in my belief have instilled a sense of unity, composure and independence. I have also founded a society and work at a national level for a students organisation. I believe the skills from these experiences are paramount to this role.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I aim to create a a safe and accessible atmosphere for everyone to freely discuss their concerns, whilst creating ways to strategise and facilitate solutions. I aim to be a voice of all the students and whilst instilling a sense of belongingness and comfort within them. I endeavour to recognise any patterns within the departments to gain an holistic approach towards tailoring an enriching student experience, whilst organising socials and panels for other representatives to share ideas. My conclusive aim is to create a platform wherein individuality and expression is supported and encouraged.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

The aim of my campaign is to be the face of diversity and inclusivity, at all levels. I understand the resentment and confusion that can arise when concerns aren’t contextualised. I therefore endeavour to create an ideal platform for everyone to voice their concerns, whilst promising to deliver changes within my capacity. I believe our generation differences of pluralism and diversity as a great gift. This is the gift I aim to capitalise on, to aid everyone in adjusting and manifesting the students opinions by giving them a sense of reality. To sum up, do not vote for me, vote for our cause.

Krystel C Fernandes
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a graduate from the University of Manchester, I have 3 years of leadership experience through a variety of roles. I started off as the communications coordinator of my hall before being elected to lead the hall as president. Additionally, I was the president of a society and the secretary of another. I also represented the university as a student ambassador. I am tenacious, resilient and a focused leader. As such, I believe I possess all the necessary skills of communication, leadership, diplomacy and public speaking that I would require to successfully take on the role of faculty rep.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

In 2020, the faculty achieved record results in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey. If elected, my main goal as a faculty rep would be to attain even greater levels of student satisfaction by the end of the year. I would ensure that the student voice is heard and that feedback and issues with teaching and administration are brought to the attention of faculty staff and remedied in the students' best interests. To execute this, I plan to host weekly meetings with not only course reps but the general student population as well to discuss feedback in a timely and effective manner.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I intend to improve student experience at the faculty and am confident that the skills I have gained from previous roles will enable me to carry out my duties responsibly. I understand the impact that students can make and am devoted to making change possible. For example, I played an integral part in renegotiating the rent contract at my previous university for the benefit of students during the Covid-19 pandemic. The faculty is one of the best neuroscience departments in the world and it would be a privilege to represent the amazing postgraduate students that study here and deserve the best.
