Election post

Elected
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I hope to make campus more inclusive and welcoming to all members of the BME network by organising activities that will also bridge different cultures and students of different backgrounds, so that BME students could learn from each other. Furthermore, as a student representative, I will make sure that the opinions and voices will be delivered to the Student Union and be enacted upon, in order to usher change from the bottom up, thus making both the university and campus environment more open and friendly to students from all backgrounds.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As the current Treasurer of Drama Society, I have experience working in an executive position where communication and decision-making is essential, especially communication between the society members and student leaders. I've also been in leadership positions in the past, which makes me responsible and highly efficient. Furthermore, as an International Relations student, I have a deep understanding of narratives from various different cultures, which would be great background knowledge as a student leader in the BME network. However, I'm also ready to learn more while in this role.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

As a QPOC (Queer Person of Colour) student who have studied in the UK for four years, I've experienced and understood the feeling of the inability to fit in and adapting to a foreign environment, which allows me understanding of the potential difficulties that BME students may experience. Furthermore, I believe my past experiences, along with my communication and leadership skills, makes me suitable for the role and will help me to carry out my responsibilities and role efficiently. I'm eager to represent BME students at UCL as a student leader.
